Dr Jerald Dirks received his Bachelor of Arts (philosophy) from Harvard College in 1971, his Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in 1974, his Master of Arts (clinical child psychology) from the University of Denver in 1976, his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver in 1978, and his sessions program certificate in Islamic studies from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in 1998.
Well, I learnt something early on in the programme - the Arabian horse typically have one less vertebrae than a traditional horse. Interesting tit bit of info - just an aside of course.
But interesting discussion between two Americans - and good explanations of what it means to be a Muslim. The Christian credentials of the Dr are impressive indeed. Watched the first few mins - will watch fully later.
The description of what attracted him to Islam is one I've heard many times before - it wasn't prosletysing but rather the examples of how the Muslims he was interacting with were living their lives. It took him over a year to then ask and investigate in detail the theology (having studied Islam superficially as part of his theology training).
I hope we don't get any trolling posts that don't address the subject matter.
