Forecast Sees Muslim Population Leveling Off (1) Jan 30, 2011
A new report forecasts that the number of Muslims around the world will grow over the next 20 years at twice the rate of non-Muslims, but that the rapid growth will level off. With more Muslim women getting educations and jobs, people migrating to cities, and living standards improving, the report says, the birthrate in majority-Muslim countries will come to more closely resemble the pattern in other nations.

This is very interesting!

I just hope that non-Muslim conservatives and Muslim conservatives alike don't use this as an excuse to preach to their women folk that they need to forget about higher education and jobs and instead serve their god by marrying young, staying home and making as many babies as possible.

You know kanalli A day will come and they'll use this as an excuse for women to marry and stay home instead..that's not becouse they don't deserve jobs and so on, but becouse there will be fewer of it due to high tech factories and work places, in other words the kind of jobs that require intense labour will be at its lowest level..

It will turn out to be the arena for men only, just as it was right at the beginning when civilisation of the humankind was taking place... The divine order once more will profess itself..

Although I'd fully expect some of the usual suspects to come up with
'But you're manipulating the statistics to undermine our cherished view of mad muslims. How dare you cite facts to seek to confuse us. My auntie's next door neighbour's milkman told her that the Muslims were the biggest threat, how dare you not believe this!'.

Just like I was watching yesterday when a researcher got hundreds of signatures on a petition at a tree hugger protest to ban Dihydrogen mono-oxide. And there were no crap facts given while explaning what Dihydrogen mono-oxide is and its effects. Even the president of some tree hugging association signed it.

For all those who don't know what Dihydrogen mono-oxide is. Its H20 i.e water !

That is awful! They mean well, but they are clueless about what they are signing! Chemistry teachers across the US must have been cringing. (Truthfully though, if I was at one of those environmental rallies and I heard the word monoxide (as in dreaded carbon monoxide) and didn't pay attention I'd likely have signed it too!)

They actually have no clue but are more than happy to jump on the band wagon to feed their bias because someone looking and sounding authorative ( blogs, media, speeches, flashy videos ) told them so.

Again I like to use one of my favourite qoutes of recent times by Jon Stewart at the rally to restore sanity " If we amplify everything, we hear nothing "

Someone who claimed a cruise missile slammed into the Pentagon's wall because they didn't do enough research/didn't apply enough analytical thought to the scenario probably shouldn't scoff at those with whom he disagrees with, no?

Just goes to show, you've got to dig past the headlines and look at the evidence - and be particularly wary of ranting bloggers and biased translation sites run by ex-military types - and, Mel, be especially wary of what your aunty's neighbours milkman is supposed to have said!!

Cheers,
Shafique

And let's continue on topic about this recent report of the growth then leveling off of the Muslim population.
