SaalamAlaikum
This is a simple yet brilliant excerpt from Words and Reflections of Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas by Manzoor Numani. This talks about the importance of Salaat and enjoining it.
Enjoining Salaat (prayer)
Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas said:
"Salaat is termed as a pillar of Islam in the Hadith. This means that salaat is supporting the rest of deen (religion), and deen can come (into a person's life) by means of Salaat. Both an in-depth understanding of deen and the inspiration to act upon deen are given by means of salaat; and the character of both these blessings will depend upon how good one's salaat (i.e prayer with concentration and devotion) is. Inviting people to salaat and making efforts to correct the internal (i.e concentration and devotion) and external (i.e rules and regulations of the salaat) of people is, therefore, a struggle for entire deen."
"If a person is seeing that someone is not offering salaat, and he does not make any effort for changing this state of that person, then this behaviour shows that he is satisfied over the collapse and demolishing of the entire building of Islam and he does not have any concern with this going down of Islam." This is because Salaat is a pillar of Islam.
