Some interesting points brought up by the author - Muslims are obligated now, just as they were during Muhammad's life, to destroy idols to prevent idol worship (polytheism).

The destruction of idols and pagan shrines is well attested in ahadith - where Muhammad says he was sent by Allah to destroy idols. Muhammad is also recorded to have ordered the destruction of idols or destroy idols himself - such as the smashing of the idols in Mecca or the Pagan shrine after Muslims militarily took Ta'if.

Idol destruction is also sanctioned in the Koran - as is the confiscation of Pagan places of worship and barring Pagans from practicing their religion (Koran 9:17).

The Koran also says to behead non-allied Pagans (Koran 9:5).
