From what I've heard, Du Telecom is laying off all its temporary staff and contractors. Permanent staff haven't been touched yet but they're reportedly next in the firing line.

DAMAC: 150 people this week
Nakheel: 500 by the end of the week as part of a restructure

Anyone out here from either company who could confirm this bit of info?

It can't be the most recent plane delivered to EK since that's flying the DXB-LHR, LHR-DXB and DXB-JFK route. At the moment, it's at JFK. This was the last EK plane (reg # A6-EDD) delivered by Airbus on 12/30/08:
