To answer OP questions: If the company is professional enough, the fastest would be only 4-5 working days time to process a residence visa (including medical check+visa stamp). My employer had done several times for my project team, even includes DIC process. It's common (in a negative way) in Dubai...

I assume as any other countries, UK has too other types of passport than general/travel/personal such as diplomatic one. So it's the question which was not exactly clear.

Re: Seperate Checks What does it mean????

cosmicbaby wrote:Question. Can you pay rent every Quartly? Please let me know.

Ask the landlord/agent of the apartment/villa that interests you.
But yes, it's common to have it by 2-4 checks.

When it's said 512 Kbps it's not really 512 Kbps. When it's said 1 Mbps it's not really 1 Mbps. Remember the sharing ratio. Unless probably you go for corporate account. Most often I get only 50-70% bandwidth of my 512 Kbps connection. Not enough speed to hook on to TVAnts/PPCast/etc. If you're in D...

Because the web developers didn't test properly the compatibility on both browsers, especially for the sites which use many scripts.

In fact more sites are operable in IE than FF, because many web developers who use Microsoft-based development tools like .NET often careless about FF.

Remote bandwidth test sometimes is not reliable because it depends on the server location where you have the test on. Just watch the maximum speed you can get when downloading many files & torrents, e.g. using DU Meter. I use external USB DSL modem (not router) where I can get only 50-70% of my ...

Fayz, unfortunately most travel insurance companies demand certain conditions, like being resident of the country where it was bought. For instance, UK travel insurance is only for UK residents. And they usually have a limit of travel time, i,e,maximum 60 days or something like that. Even anual pol...

Re: thinking about moving to dubai.me hubby and 4 young kids

Renting 4-5BR villa (I don't think there's 4-5BR apt) will cost you at least 200-250K/year. Then school for up to 55K/year/child (if you opt only "Westernish" school), though there are some cheaper schools which cost 15-25K/year/child. Once you can handle those two biggest expenses, the r...

Playstation 2

Are all slim PS2 sold in Dubai DVDR/region-restricted? I was thinking to ask my relative to bring to Dubai next month from my home country. It's about 200 Dhs more expensive, but most likely it's been mod-chipped (warranty void) so to play region-free & DVDR games & films. Is it worth it? Is...

there's 1540 kBps in the full meg, so my download speeds should be in the 1100-1540 range shouldn't it?

1540 KBps = (1540x8) 12320 Kbps = (12320/1024) 12 Mbps.
Are you sure?

You have the bucks for upgrading internet connection (for the sake of ugly video streams quality) but can't afford 130ish Dhs for subscribing Showtime (in fact it's replacing your current Pehla/ART)? :D

What bonk see in the taskbar icon is not the real speed of the DSL (to provider). I have too similar number. AFAIK, that is the internal speed between your network/USB interface and the modem.

It's not a matter of higher speed. It's sharing ratio that matters. It's pretty useless even you got 8Mbps connection if shared among 100 accounts in your neighborhood. i dont share it, i use it all for myself and its stillll so slooooww. the fastest etisalat service is the business one. i think th...

I think dog's size doesn't matter. What matter most is whether they're noisy or not, which is more concerned by the neighbour next door.

Try to shut a Pomerian. Small but very loud ;)

In the end, better ask the landlord first.
