That's the problem. Spending days in hotel is not a wise choice as the cheapest hotels are still too expensive. And you don't want to sleep in a tent in the middle of the desert with this hot weather ;) But then, you can't get visit visa without friend/relative's sponsorship, unless you are citizen ...

XTY, is talking about being on a family members visa. You cannot work on a visit visa, no company would take the risk. That's true. I was referring to family visa which is also illegal to be used for working. But then we've heard many cases where companies employ them on visit visa for months (exte...

XTY an unmarried woman can be on her father's visa, so can a married woman be on her husbands visa yet work legally. All the company needs is to get them a labor card. I see. First time I know if it's actually legal ;) But I saw/heard somewhere that there's a statement or stamp or something that my...

(Christian) international kindergarten school?

So my daughter is 3 years old now and has been going to nursery school in the neighborhood (near Burjuman) for almost one year. In few months (probably the next school term in August/September), we're thinking to send her to a higher school (first kindergarten). Does anyone know if there's a Christi...

On the kids front, Dubai is cheaper for nursery and private schooling than the UK (though obviously there is "free" education if you want it between 5 and 18 years old), so is a good choice for Brits. Take a look on this: http://www.gemsworldschool-dubai.com/server.php?show=nav.01p009001 ...

That's about the most expensive place in Dubai tho. Anyway, I was paying more than that a year to have my daughter in nursery in the UK 4 days a week, what we pay now is less than half that for 5 days. Clearly for many countries this is still expensive though, that's why I said it was good for Brit...

Face it, if your kid is born stupid, no amount of money can fix it. If he/she is smart enough, he/she can end up in Harvard no matter which high school (or kindergarten) they went to. Fortunately (thank God) that since my daughter was born she is naturally smart comparing to others with the same ag...

I agree with NotSure and NoSoup, there should be something to stand out from the crowd. No offence but I've seen so many SysAdmin with all those certifications (yeah, mostly from South Asian). Too many I think. I'd say it'll be difficult to compete and get better cash, unless you have other specific...

I'm looking for a good, hassle free (easy to withdraw & transfer), and no frills (no minimum balance, no high monthly fee, but interesting interests) bank in Dubai for opening either Euro or GBP. Any recommendation? I've checked HSBC but from my past experience I don't like them (high fee, too m...

Should it be a villa? You can get cheaper if you just take 3BR apartments (generally).

Most villas in Satwa are old ones. Not worth for 150K for the quality and the neighbourhood.

I wonder if Nationality matters... I think so because they always ask our nationalities when asking for vacant apt/villa. They know that Americans/Europeans have higher budget so they charge more. Any comments?

Wasel (pre-paid) roams by default as long as you have enough credit. To receive calls & SMS for sure it can. For making calls when roaming, I haven't tried it.

Post-paid doesn't roam by default. You need to make deposit of 2000 AED to enable it.

And if the landlord caught you, most probably they will demand for higher rate. If not to kick your friend out. Some apartments (read: watchmen) don't care, some do. So I suggest you to approach and be nice to the watchmen for not telling the landlord or the agent. It's common for the landlord to as...
