Shower Filters From USA

I will be moving to Dubai from USA and I'd appreciate if you guys could let me know a good shower filter that I could buy in USA and use in Dubai. I looked at Aquasana filters, but the reviews for Aquasana seem to be mixed. I'm looking for something thats sturdy enough and that can withstand everyda...

Re: Shower Filters From USA

Buy one here. They're cheap. Thanks for your response ian. Would you know of any specific local brand that works well? Reading through other messages in this forum, I thought that there were not that many good quality shower filters available locally, but then my knowledge about Dubai is very limit...

Re: Shower Filters From USA

Here is what you will get from a local filter. You open the box. Dont expect much packaging. Not much instruction. You will find bits and bobs in the box and you need to figure out what goes where. Its fun. In case you broke it, not likely, just go and buy another one. But since its made locally on...

My wife & I are moving from USA to Dubai shortly and my wife's on the family way. I found names of a few good gynecologits in this thread, but since this is old, can you guys recommend good gynecologists & hospitals in Dubai? I've asked the gynecologist here to give a detailed write-up a.k.a...

Does your wife have an American passport as well as American Driving Licence? If the passpport is not issued in the same country as the passport, they often make you take a test. If your passport and driving licence are issued from the same country either UK or USA, you can obtain a temporary UAE l...

Thanks cheap_deal, I also heard that the need to take classes depend upon individual ability to convince the RTA for taking tests directly. Lets see how true that is when I land up in Dubai!

What kind of suit to buy?

I'll be moving to Dubai within a month and my everyday work attire is going to be business suits :( I'm breaking my head over what kind of fabric should I choose for the suit! Here's what I'm considering: 1. Worsted wool (probably super 120 or above) because the fabric breathes better 2. Polyester +...

I went to Carrefour today and I can confirm that they sell them, but they were out of stock! Try Geant in Ibn Battuta Mall, or Ace Hardware (SZ Road, or Festival City), or Speedex (SZ Rd). bonk, are these filters effective? I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but I am interested to know what difference ...

Thanks XPClone & scarlet, I did try to find linen suits here in US, but they're hard to find in the usual stores like JCPenney, Sears etc. I will try out specialty suit stores. Worsted wool also sounds like a good idea since its natural fabric and is lightweight. XPClone, do you know of specific...

Re: high salary & perfect package... too good to be true

I saw an ad offering over 4k USD monthly, plus airfare, housing, health insurance, and paid vacations for teaching positions. Is this the norm over there? Because if it is, it's a well kept secret; South Korea isn't even offering packages like that and they're getting all the coverage. Does anyone ...

If you wear a linen suit you will look like a miami vice Lebanese dude. Not a good look. Linen suits are not for business. Go for a light wool mix. If you go to the Bur Dubai area or Satwa you can get a well made tailored suit for around $200 or cheaper depending on the material. I did see a linen ...

it's just that people here wear the same type of clothes as everywhere else in the world...the shops sell the same clothes as everywhere else... it's common sense not to wear heavy materials or syntetics when it's hot... anyway...the thread made me laugh...It won't happen again... I just came across this topic. I am presently using Vista premium in my personal laptop and have not had any issues at all. However, I did tweak my laptop a bit to keep it running fine. To begin with, I shutdown aero interface as that is a major resource hog. Vista looks cool even without the aero i...

I'm gonna find/buy XP OEM CD (original) to replace the Vista, is it possible & legal (no nags when authenticating) to use the same serial key (on the bottom of the laptop)? Some says to use key-finder utility or something. Or should I contact Microsoft ME? Has anyone tried that? Recently, we do...

I usually do it myself: 1. Take a picture with white background 2. Upload it to http://www.epassportphoto.com , select the country and generate passport photo sheet 3. Print a standard 4 * 6 photo in any photo studio which give atleast 6 passport photos. The standard photo size (4 * 6 or something e...

Nissan Altima 2008

I'm in the market for a new car and am considering Altima or Accord. I looked at the Altima 2.5S model (2008 MY). Its fully loaded and a whole lot cheaper than 2008 Accord, the other car I looked at. The price difference between an Accord EX 2008 (2.4 litre) and a comparably equipped Nissan Altima 2...
