Re: Netty Piles It On

LOL

I'm sure if I comment, I'll be accused of being an anti-semite. ;)

But thankfully, I have little to add to the above. :)

Cheers,

Re: Syria - Genocide?

See Shaf, thats what I'm trying to say here. If Fatah and Hamas actually put asides their differences, overall they basically are on the same side isn't it. An independent and free Palestine or am I wrong ? And used that withdrawal to come toghter and further the peace process instead of havin' a g...

Re: Netty Piles It On

Also from Haaretz - this sums it up quite nicely, IMO: No and no and no. No to the 1967 borders, no to Jerusalem for two nations, no to the right of return, no to the Palestinians' justified demand to be free, like all peoples. Now it is certain: Netanyahu will go down in the history of Israel and o...

Re: Boycott Israel Emergency Medical Card

LOL - good to see some humour from the fanbois for a change. ;) (Chocs - it isn't a real card, ) I'm reminded of all those who opposed the economic boycott of Apartheid South Africa. But hey, when fanbois are complaining, you know it must be hurting. The momentum on the diplomatic side seems ...

Arab League: Full UN membership for Palestine

Well, the momentum for full membership of the UN of the state of Palestine continues to grow. Now the Arab League has voted to seek exactly this from the UN in a widely anticipated move scheduled for September. In the meantime, the protestations that 'there is no partner for peace' grows less and le...

Re: Violent Teachings In Bible

Well, very few people take eh seriously - so you are wise not to get upset by his posts. I would hope that anyone new to the forum will read the posts and won't get upset by the thread title - especially after I made it clear above that quoting the violent verses from the bible does not mean I think...

Re: Bombings by Terrorists Double in NI

Where are your irish al shafique and your stats, err, so herve you decided to cite one Danish numpty who accidently set off a letter bomb in Denmark when I posted official Police stats which said: Thursday’s police figures show that 188 people were arrested under the Terrorism Act, compared with 16...

Re: Violent teachings in Bible

Blueshift - yes, you are right - the OT does contain a lot of violence. Much of it is explicitly sanctioned by God (in the Biblical accounts) - and many of the incidents are genocides and certainly war-crimes. For example, the God of the Bible commanded Moses and his followers: Deuteronomy 20:17 You...

Re: Violent Teachings In Bible

LOL. Ok, back to the topic at hand. Let's summarise what the undisputed facts are and list the few (weakly) disputed points. First, the undisputed points in the OP: 1. The Bible contains many more violent verses than the Quran (links given to skeptics annotated Bible to confirm) 2. The Bible contain...

Re: Bombings By Terrorists Double In NI

How is presenting actual bomb threats, arrests in Europe (and here specifically in the UK) etc deceitful? I don't dispute that YOU want to believe that Moooslims pose a greater threat in Europe. I'm just pointing out that reality does not support this paranoia/Islamophobia. Citing what happens in th...

Re: Gender selective abotions - India

^kanelli, your point of view seems very logical to me. Some people use hammers to commit murder. It would be bizare to condemn a person for being 'inconsistent' if they believe hammers should not be used to kill people, but should not be banned either. I also believe that education is key. Fo...

Re: Goodluck Johnson

I spent some time in Zimbabwe as a teenager and there were many with 'unusual names' - at least unusual to an English boy's ears. Patience, Sweety, Lucky etc were very common and didn't raise too many eyebrows. The most bizare ones I came across were 'Scholastic Achievement' (sort of understandable)...

Re: Arab League: Full UN membership for Palestine

Let me ask you Al Shafique, if all legal actions were exhausted and a war breaks between UK and Palestinians, being that you are British you would fight with British soldiers right? I can't perceive of any situation where the UK would declare war on Palestine - but if it did, then yes I'd be willin...

It is fascinating how the blind supporters of Israel have to construct fantasy worlds which have no relation to facts or reality! herve - you asked a question, I answered it. Re: Arab League: Full UN Membership For Palestine

What is encouraging, to me at least, is the growing momentum for a non-violent solution to the end of the occupation of Palestine. Sym - my view is that we need to look forward. Colonialism and the carve up of the Mid East (and Africa!) has a lot to answer for - but we are where we are. Israel exist...

Israeli Extremists: "Butcher the Arabs" etc

Israeli extremists in Jerusalem have been filmed expressing some extreme, violent views. Some, as the report points out, were looking to hurt Arabs! Ynet has a video of them chanting these views during a celebration to mark the illegal annexation of East Jerusalem by Israel. (Note, that even...

Re: Israeli Extremists: "Butcher The Arabs" Etc

BB - I agree with you in respect of stories. I think you'll find many MORE stories about anti-semitism than you will find about Israeli extremists wanting to kill 'Arabs'.

Re: Israeli Extremists: "Butcher The Arabs" Etc

;)

I guess the moral is that context and perspective are important aspects when it comes to these reports.

I note that this report was from Israel itself - I haven't checked to see how much of an impact it made in the international press.

Re: Israeli Extremists: "Butcher the Arabs" etc

The Israeli extremists celebrating the annexation of Jerusalem were indeed making more noise than actual harm. But that is no different from the Jihadist, EDL etc chanters we have seen in the past in other contexts. Anyone looking to harm others (as the report above says some were) should indeed be ...

Israelis march in favour of 67 borders

Some more positive news in Israel - thousands of Israelis marched in favour of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders. Re: Israelis march in favour of 67 borders

^Unfortunately, I don't think so. From what I'm reading, Israel remains quite polarised - those who support Bibi's stance, those who think he's too right-wing and those who think he's not right-wing enough  I posted this for balance - not all Israelis are interested in continuing the military...

Re: Israelis march in favour of 67 borders

Thanks for your views herve. But you did notice that this thread was about the positive march in Tel Aviv by Israelis in support of ending the military occupation of land captured in 1967 (with some land swaps, I guess)? The Golan Heights are also part of this military occupation, so it is relevant....

Re: Terrorism In EU - Zero Deaths From Jihadists

LOL - the stark fact that you're avoiding is that the 7/7 bombers (in 2005) are included in the official statistics by Europol. The 9/11 bombers in 2001 are included in the FBI statistics. I'm not arguing that there are no Jihadists out there or that there have been NO jihadist terrorist attacks. Th...

Re: The Demise Of Islam

Fail again. There's a difference between the prophecies that talk about the fall from power (temporal and spiritual) and your loony, false contention that the number of Muslims is falling (and the latest silly statistic that 5.8m are converting to Christianity each year). The prophecies also talk ab...
