Concord - I think you may be giving the US military too much credit, they haven't really covered themselves with glory recently have they?

Anyway - it is interesting to think they are intentionally looking incompetent for Iran's sake! :)

Lighten up Concord. I grant you that your theory that the bump with the tanker may be intentional to show Iran they have nuclear subs is one that I cannot disprove. I don't believe it's the case - so it comes down to a matter of opinion. Still funny though. As for your other points - I think you're ...

..Guess what? No matter how much criticism there is out there the USA will continue to do what it does best until someone else steps up and does better. No one is stopping another country, group, etc. from doing better. At the end of the day it all comes down to MONEY. Sorry, had to ask about this....

Sorry, It's just that I don't think anyone else does anything better than the USA. Except Crickett and Soccer (or football as it is sometimes called). Hence my "wager" that in 2 years the USA will still do it better than China. Sorry, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say 'i...

So at least we now agree that the US isn't best at everything. Why quibble over details?

Concord - thanks for the bio, I wasn't aware of her other articles. Good to see that elected politicians in Israel can be atheists and are willing to call a spade a spade. Having been in government I think she is in a good position to speak with authority on the situation (the facts are beyond quest...

Concord - do you have any doubts that apartheid is being carried out in Palestine by Israel (that is what both the article and President Carter are saying)? As I stated before, as far as I have read the supporters of Israel do not dispute the facts in the article above. Interested in your take on it...

As I stated before, as far as I have read the supporters of Israel do not dispute the facts in the article above. As far as you read one article  One article couldn't be enought for anything. Unless the article just reinforces your view. I can find an article to support anything. My point is...

Ironklad, From my perspective, both Sunni and Shia revere Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as a pious, courageous believer and a rightful leader of Muslims. He faithfully followed the first 3 Khalifas and it seems strange to me for me to second guess him and denounce Khalifas that he pledged alle...

I renew my question - do you, or do you not, believe in the substance of the article that apartheid is occuring in Palestine? "Apartheid" per se is perhaps too much. One could apply that term in many countries in certain situations, etc. (in those places it is called 'racism") The ar...

Bleakus is right about Arabs mixing over many generations. Basically, nowadays an Arab is a person who calls themselves an Arab (serious). Arabs are a distinct set of people though - all descendants of Ishmael, the first born of Abraham are Arabs. The descendants of Isaac (his half brother) are the ...

so basically, arabs and jews are cousins yet we are the most 2 nations that cant live together in the same place ;) Bleakus - you are forgetting your history. Arabs and Jews have lived peaceably in the same lands for many centuries. For the Jews, the period they call their 'Golden Period' was when ...

Bleakus - no probs, you were summing up the situation today.

It's worth re-reading what was said at the UN debate before the creation of Israel:

My bad. I remembered your quote and thought I had replied. Anyway, in short: It's basically a true statement and then a list of the 'sporadic' incidents. The 'periods of peaceful coexistence' were the norm. This is attested to by the so-called 'Golden Age' of Jewish history: http://en.wikipedia.org/...

Very interesting reading. Thanks for posting Maad. The whole history of the setting up of Israel is interesting. There have always been differing opinions of the status of Israel from within the Jewish community. The ultra-orthodox are against the setting up of Israel by secular means as they are st...

I wouldn't put it past them - they aren't big fans of Iran and hence on this issue they are completely in line with the USA. However, I don't think the Saudi's were behind the mild (until recently) winter that caused demand to be low :) On a different topic - I note that the US is up in arms over Ch...

Space Wars - Hypocrisy of the US

In light of the news that the US is objecting to China shooting a defunct satellite out of orbit, it is interesting to note that the accusation of China militarising Space rings hollow when we look at the US stance on efforts to prevent the buildup of arms in Space. The US is (by it's actions) seeki...

It will be interesting to see the impact Barak Obama (whose middle name is 'Hussein') has. He is very impressive - both as a orator and a writer. No. Countries like Russia and Japan are trying to get their population up for their economic future (also they don't want to rely o...
