Re: Resolution 478 - binding

I'm glad we've clarified that Israel is breaking the law in East Jerusalem. As for whether 478 is binding or not - I linked to the UN document which clarifies this point - that it is, in fact, binding. I was careful not to do an eh and quote something I hadn't read - and to help out, I gave the link...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

The Palestinian land was defined by the UN in 1947 as 45% of the land that was to be shared between Israel and Palestine. Currently, the Palestinians are willing to settle for 22% of this land, giving Israel the remaining 78% (over 40% more than originally allocated). May I therefore ask you: What i...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Nope, sorry I can't see how referring to the UN partition of 1947/8 equates to 'wanting the destruction of Israel'. UN gave Israel 55%, Palestinians today say that Israel can keep 78% and they will settle for 22% (instead of 45%). It seems a weird kind of logic that equates an INCREASE of over 40% i...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

I think you're losing it FD. I've stated that I'm in favour of the Arab Peace Plan which states that a two state solution based on UN resolution 242 etc is the solution. The Palestinians are therefore willing to settle for 22% of the land, and let Israel keep 78%. Paranioa won't change this fact, or...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

You're losing it if you think that the Arab Peace Plan is part of a phased destruction of Israel - when the facts are that the Palestinians are settling for only 22% of the land. Israel seems to greedily want more and just 'believing' that the other side is a boogey man won't change this fact. Why w...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Ok, so it seems there is no dispute over the 78% and 22% figure any more. (I don't know why you keep wanting to count Jordan's land mass - no one else does) You believe that the Palestinians should earn their right to self-determination and to be free from Israeli occupation. I believe they have suf...

Re: Allah - Malaysia ruling

With all due respect Berrin, the explanation is laughable - if there are weak faithed Muslims in Malay that will be converted to Christianity because of the term 'Allah', then the solution is not to ban Christians etc from using Allah, but to educate the stupid ones. Sheesh. At least the Muslim auth...

Re: Your Opinion - Islam Is Incompatible with Western Law

Perhaps everyone should take a deep breath and decide whether they want to debate or trade insults. Berrin - may I remind you of 16.125-128 Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best,...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

So, 78% may not be enough?

Interesting.

Fascinating how one can justify greed. To me, 78% seems more than enough - given that the Palestinians will have to make do with only 22%.

You didn't read the first article - did you eh? Re: Accuracy of Historical Records in the Quran

Another one that is often quoted is the story of the Prophet Lot's wife. The Bible says that she was turned into a pillar of salt, whist the Quran says she stayed behind and didn't leave with Lot. I have met some Christians who believe that the Bible is more accurate on this point - but most agree ...

Re: For berrin - historical inaccuracies in the Koran

A simple 'no I couldn't find a reference' would have sufficed. The flaw in your argument above is that only Christians believe Allah has a +BEGOTTEN+ son, not Jews. Jews believe that righteous men are 'son of God' i.e. 'ben elohim'. Therefore it isn't a reference to Jews (unless you think Jews did t...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Interesting how you keep bringing race or other countries into the discussion. I told you, there are non-Arab Palestinians as well - eg, my friend who is of Greek descent. You never tire of telling us that there are non-Jewish Israelis, so this trait of yours is peculiar. When discussing Palestine v...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Nope, it is you that keeps bringing in 'Arab' this and 'Arab' that in this thread. You quite rightly point out that this is also what some on the Palestinian side do as well (even though the PA has made it clear it is not a Jewish vs Arab thing and Jewish citizens of Palestine will be welcome.) I've...

Hamas' Stance - in their own words

We hear a lot about how Hamas are anti-Semitic, terrorists, etc - and much is made of a charter written in 1988. Here are two items - one from 2007 from Hamas itself, and the second a link to a radio interview from last year with a British Diplomat (quite short) - who also confirms Hamas' stance vis...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Sorry, what concessions are Israel making? I can see the concessions the Palestinians are making - notably accepting only 22% of the land. I also can't see your logic about how accepting 22% of the land is 'greedy'. I can certainly make the case for Israel wanting to keep more than 78% as being gree...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

On the concessions point, I had in mind what Finkelstein wrote last year: The record shows that in every crucial issue raised at Camp David, then under the Clinton parameters, and then in Taba, at every single point, all the concessions came from the Palestinians. Israel didn’t make any concessions....

So, no concessions by Israel then and Finkelstein is right? Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

The fact remains, Israel has not made any concessions - whether in Taba or Camp David. Actually, I was correcting your statement: Now you are just being a troll and baiter again. It is Israel against Arabs, it is the Israeli-Arab conflict. Re: For berrin - historical inaccuracies in the Koran

Thanks for confirming that: 1. you can't find a reference that contemporary Jewish tribes of Arabia did NOT believe Ezra was a ben elohim 2. that your Quranic reference for 'begotten' son cannot be shown to apply to Jews Ergo, your theory is one that isn't actually supported by any evidence.
