Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Excellent. I totally agree that Muhammad, pbuh, is the 'Khatamun Nabiyeen' - God says so in the Quran. However, I can't see anywhere where God says He will stop communicating with mankind - perhaps I missed that verse. He does say that the final religion is Islam and the final scripture is the Quran...

Re: Can Islam liberate women?

Arab countries tend to be misogynistic. Historically, Islam had to specify that women had rights and that it was not ok to bury female children alive - the fact it had to specify this speaks for itself. That said, Arab women are quite outspoken and can (and do) write about what Islam means to them. ...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

The Arab peace plan is quite simple and very lucid on all points. Perhaps we are reading different versions of the Peace Plan? I agree with you FD that Israel does not feel under any obligation to abide by UN resolutions - including giving back land grabbed in 1967. Therein lies a fundamental roadbl...

Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

Don't you have an equivalent saying in Dutch to 'two wrongs don't make a right'? What Jordanians may or may not have done, does not excuse the eviction and bulldozing of an established community in a city that you've just won control over in a war. It's a war crime. Plain and simple. Given that the ...

Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Sure, Prophets are people who convey God's message to mankind. The message of Islam teaches us how to develop a personal relationship with God, teaches us how to worship and pray and tells us what to expect in return. God communicates with humans in the same way He has always done. Being able to dis...

Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Here is a relevant verse from the Quran, 2.186:

And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright.

Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

Again with the 'two wrongs argument'? I'll happily join you in condemning any injustices carried out by Arabs - there is no excuse for violating Human Rights and international laws. The excuse that 'well my neighbour is a bigger criminal than me' doesn't wash with me unfortunately. The South African...

Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

Your argument seems to be with the UN.

Israel seems to believe it is above the law- therein is another source of the roadblock to peace in the region.

Help me out, where does the Arab Peace Plan ask for more than required by UN resolutions?

Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Because I've tried it, and it works for me, and it also meets all the tests of logic I've thrown at it. Edit - sorry, I forgot - yes I do pray to God in my own language and He has answered my prayers in ways that I know are just from His grace. I know it is not my own self deluding myself, because I...

Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Ok so let me get this straight, You test Quran with criterias which is in it? I first check that the criteria are logical and then I use them - but the over-arching test is one of logic. Quran says that if you pray, God will answer you, and he will send some signals for you, which I would be gratef...

Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

Do you have to use vulgar language when defending the eviction of Muslims from their homes and the bulldozing of the site? It would be suffice to say that you support Israel's actions and don't agree with South Africa when it says Israel is acting like the white Apartheid era rulers. Cheers, Shafique

Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

Israel committed a war crime when it evicted families living in the Maghreb quarter of Jerusalem in the area facing the Western Wall and destroyed over 100 houses and then forbade them from returning. These people lived there - they ate, slept and (yes) went to toilet there. Access to the Western Wa...

I also said I am interested in discussing this once you've read and summarised Memon's responses to the articles you've posted and not read.

Re: Why do I choose Islam?

Everyone approaches religion and spirituality differently. For many people, logic doesn't matter - I've just stated that it does feature highly for me. Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

I agree that the Arab Peace Plan gives Israel more than the UN resolutions allow - in that it allows them to keep West Jerusalem. It seems fair that the Palestinians keep East Jerusalem. Re: Palestine - Push for Independence

The Arab peace plan says 'withdrawal from all Arab lands occupied in 1967' - seems simple enough for me, and I personally can't see how this violates any UN resolution. Re: Apartheid Comparison - From those who know

So, FD's argument is that Israel's neighbours also discriminate, so the South Africans are wrong to say Israeli actions are like Apartheid. Surely he's just arguing that South Africa should have also named the other countries and condemned them for their Apartheid-like actions. Strange line of argum...

Re: Hostage Exchanges

As voices in Israel are starting to point out (more loudly now), Israel...

Fascinating reply. Just to clarify - you are not denying the crimes that South Africa is condemning, but saying that Israel's Arab neighbours are worse. I can't see the link between Israel's war crime of evicting people from their homes and the issue about toilets in the most holy places? The Wester...
