Ah - brain now functioning a bit better... ;) On the 9/11 - my theory is that the FBI etc have worked out that the best way to hide a conspiracy is to include the facts within a web of conspiracy theories - so most will dismiss all the conspiracies. But then again, I think it gives them too much cre...

Hey, we're pretty tolerant here by-and-large. Even trolls are treated with some sympathy and are assumed they know what they are talking about - until that is they put the matter beyond doubt, then they just become annoying. ;) I must remember next Ramadhan to stop toying with trolls, though! ...

It's the quoting out of context that gets you every time - but hey, this must be normal in the Alice-in-Wonderland world where Muslims are instructed to fight all non-believers - :) But hey - as I said, I'm happy to condemn all massacres of civilians. We've seen your reluctance to condemn Goldstein'...

'eh' asks for the context, and then complains the answer is too long. Did you forget the succinct answer I gave at the beginning: 'the ones who were a military threat to the Muslims' (and are referenced in the rest of Chp 9). Do you imagine other words in verses, or is just the one word 'all'? ;) As...

I realised I should be clear what the question is:

eh -who are the 'your women' Paul is referring to?

British teen bomb plot - Aquitted

From the BBC today - more British numpties with fantasies of blowing up civilians. Bomb plot case 'a waste of money' Authorities have been criticised for pursuing a case against two teenagers who were cleared of planning a bombing at their school in Greater Manchester. A jury took 45 minutes to acqu...

Weird - the post above seems to be invisible?? Anyway - another case of Brit numpties with fantasies of blowing people up. This time they have been aquitted - because these guys were just some young men who had fantasies about blowing up their classmates and teachers. I can only imagine the headline...

Rattling the Cage

While a concerted smear campaign is well underway to rubbish both the report and Judge Goldstone, this article from JP shows that not all Israelis are blind the truths apparent to the rest of the world: Rattling the Cage: A wake-up call from Judge Goldstone 09.16.2009 | The Jerusalem Post Larry Derf...

It appears you did not read the long message which answered your question. What particularly confused you? Was it the absence of the word 'all' from the verses in question, or the fact that all the verses compliment each other and there isn't a contradiction? Only your interpretation of verses as be...

Women who chit-chat during mass. So women who chit chat in mass should shut up and only learn from their husbands. Cool - but I couldn't see where this interpretation comes from - did you just make this up? ;) But the problem in your novel interpretation is that Paul actually says 'Your women' ... ...

The authorities have decided to violate human rights and impose collective punishment. Perhaps they believe they are acting like the 'most moral army' in the world? I just condemn all acts of human rights abuses - and this is one of them. Collective punishment as defined by the conventions is inviol...

tl:dr I can only imagine the headlines if they were 'Ahmed' and 'Jamal' from Bradford Ah, false analogies can be entertaining. The headlines would not be over Ahmed and Jamal who happened to go postal, but rather if their motivation to carry out a bomb plot was based on the texts and teachings of I...

Cool, it appears we at least agree that collective punishment should be condemned. (If you want to go over early Muslim history, happy to do so in the religion forum - here let's just stick to the present.) I've pointed out that your interpretation of the universality of these verses is what is faulty - 9.29 is pretty clear when read in context of all the other verses talking about war. There is a verse which says 'do not pray' in the Quran. Would you argue Islam is unclear about whether to pray or not...

Re: Times Square bomber - Why?

I'm not surprised you're projecting your quaint view on Islam on to the bomber. You've exactly demonstrated the point the article was making - a refusal to accept facts - the attacks are explicitly because of the Pakistanis (including many civilians) being killed: “This is retaliation. And you could...

Re: Wife Beating In The Koran - Split From Politics Forum

The difference between a small tap and brutal assault is one of degree, not principle. What Mike Tyson might consider a pat on the back, is probably going feel to me like someone swung a sledgehammer at my shoulders. Agreed. A separate discussion is whether corporal and capital punishment is ever j...
