Please don't use annoyingly large fonts and if you post your (short) comments before a cut and paste job, you may have more chance of people reading what you have posted. As it is, these posts are just annoying people and detracting from the message you want to give. As for the subject of this post ...

"Spider pig, Spider pig.. does everything a spider can..." Islam does teach kindness to animals and respect when slaughtering. It does view the eating of flesh as part of nature and part of God's will and bounty. A lion isn't 'bad' because it is carnivorous, nor is a lamb 'good' because it...

A few choice nuggets of advice I have read are:

"Never invest more than you can afford to lose."

and

"The most expensive words in the English language are 'This time it's different' "

Sadly one cant afford to lose any of one's investments.. Well.. gotta see how markets are gonna react to the interest cut news.. Investing in a stock market for capital gains is no more than gambling - hence one should not put in money one cannot afford to lose. This is rule number 1 of investment....

Hifriend223: Is it Halaal to eat steak tatare (raw minced beef) - or the lebanese equivalent of raw minced lamb (I think)? How about rare steaks - which still are a bit bloody when cut? Please give references and state whether it is your opinion or those of scholars, and whether all scholars agree. ...

I guess you did not see my question about rare steaks (see two posts above)

I'd appreciate an answer.

Thanks for the reply - and welcome to the forums!

I was more interested in rare steaks - a piece of meat which is lightly cooked on the outside and raw/bloody on the inside.

I agree with you though - that if the meat is halal and no alcohol is in the dish, it is ok to eat.

Burton, Thanks for your comments - very balanced view. From my perspective, Islam is the first religion that claims to be the Universal and Final religion - it is the first religion to acknowledge the truth in other previous religions (not just Judaism and Christianity, but in saying that all people...

I disagree to that point made by Shafiq that our needs havent changed for the last 1500 years. This could depend on where we look at it from. For that reason, I respect all religions and I believe all were created to meet regional needs... and all religions were part of the evolution, some continue...

Early on Wednesday January 23rd, Palestinian militants blasted holes in the corrugated-steel wall that marks the sealed border between Gaza and Egypt. Alcohol is forbidden - but my understanding is that traces of alcohol or alcohol used for medicinal purposes (as a solvent, for example - or as a constituent of say cough medicine) is ok. Where possible it should be avoided - and certainly should not be drunk as a social intoxicant. I do, for exampl...

The only hope for peace is to not oppose the occupiers and they will hand back the land and freedoms? Hmmm. To my knowledge this has never worked in human history and Israel is continuing to confiscate land and build settlements on occupied land - despite promises to the US and international communi...

Thanks Shafique, so for you it is about the reason behind it. No - not quite. The Quran gives us good reasons for not drinking or gambling (the bad outweighs the good), but the reason I don't drink or gamble is the order from God to not do these. The difference is defining what drinking is - trace ...

Flying Dutchman - it appears that we both have the same objective. I think the firing of rockets is counterproductive and gives Israel an excuse for it's 'pinpoint killings' - which kill tens of times more Palestinians than are hurt by Qassams. However, the blanket condemnation of Hamas (and similar...

Good Idea Concord - but scenes of people queuing up for food relief still gets spun as 'propaganda' by Fox News and their ilk (if they show it at all). And can you imagine being on rations and being asked to dress up for a photo-opportunity in the hope that the world finally takes more notice of a 6...

It would be interesting - the tragedy is that it appears that the irony of a Jewish army setting up a concentration camp is lost on most of the world.

I'm still sceptical - publicity hasn't helped the people of Darfur, and they don't even have the option of dressing up!

Jesus says in the New Testament: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."(Matthew 5:17) That said, Christians do not follow all the commandments found in the Bible but rather use the interpretations of scholars...

The Quran contains no contradictions - Discuss

I believe that the Quran does not contain any contradictions or inconsistencies. However, some people do make this accusation against the Quran. Happy to explore each one in turn to see whether we can uncover whether these are indeed contradictions/inconsistent. For the record, I believe that no ver...
