Not seen a school at that price anywhere in Dubai. I'm in the West end though in The Lakes, so maybe they're a bit more expensive as they know there's a lot of expats. Looking around for my daughter, I'd expect to pay about 3-4 grand a year. My wife was going to come out and work as a nurse too but ...

Scientifically we don't know exactly how life began on earth. Interesting how many atheists would rather hold on to a purely speculative scientifically formed theory on the origins of life but they criticize anything alternative, non-scientific yet non-speculative You're saying religion is non-spec...

If everyone was an aethiest the world would be a much better place Highly simplistic statement that is based on absolutely nothing. Yes we live in world where many wars, many conflicts are caused by MEN in the name of religion (notice the way I put it? Religion didn't cause anything, this is the 1s...

You can't beat chips and a Deep Fried Mars Bar! Ah the Scottish national dish  My mate's favourite chip shop takeaway is Haggis, chips, curry sauce and cheese on top. I wonder why Scotland is the heart disease capital of Europe  Any good fish and chip shops here would be appreciated.

Alcohol license with an Abu Dhabi visa

Really just for people’s information if they search for this one day. I’m going out of my mind trying to do the legal thing and get an alcohol license. The issue is that I have an Abu Dhabi visa (my company is HQ’d there) but live and work in Dubai. I went to the MMI store and they say I need a lett...

Is there something I should know about Al Barsha?

I went for a walk yesterday from my house in the Lakes to Mall of the Emirates and had a very strange experience. In total on the way there and back, 3 cars stopped to “offer me a lift” home. I’ve heard about the generosity of the locals but they seemed a mix of nationalities (I wasn’t hanging aroun...

Yes it's a good offer, you can live well on that money. On the averages, my experience so far of Dubai is that the North Americans here often are single or without children, so a higher average would make sense. There are also less of them compared to Brits. A lot more Brits come here with family, s...

Surely with such an infinite pool of cheap labour you can pay someone to do the mean thing for you!

Obviously you were wearing a rather tight pair of trousers which looked "attarctive" from behind. No, no, no. It was stilletos and a mini skirt. The blond wig I had on must have confused them  Saw it again the other day when driving back to the mall, could just be some nice people an...

Man, this is some funny stuff. I'm in a good mood and simply cannot be bothered disecting the good Sheikh's argument but it would be so easy to do. I will say one thing though. Atheists are not narrow-minded, they have looked at all the options and settled on one. Those who grow up in a country wher...

Home help is not an excuse!

Thought I'd just point out how some people have really lost the plot here just because home help is so cheap. Point 1 was on Christmas Day, I was out walking in my neighbourhood and it was quite frankly sickening to see so many kids out there on their new bikes/ skateboards etc. with their NANNY the...

Inflationary pressures are due to ease in 2007 and beyond too, so your cash will go further. Please share how do you substantiate this statement? Cheers. I do a lot of work in economic analysis. Inflation has been primarily driven by a lack of housing which has pushed up rents, wages and therefore ...

But if you feel like laughing, there's always that thing that some guy wrote in some earlier thread about religion being responsible for AIDS and that most of the scientific mysteries surrounding the big bang and physics have been discovered, now that's funny. That was me. AIDS has been spread by l...

It's the way Saddam died and who actually decided his death (and that sham trial) that makes it all wrong. Is this so difficult for some of you to understand? Apparently... But this is the point we're making. The Iraqis decided his fate. He led a party that represented 20% of the population and rul...

Good news, even if it's a little late in coming. Market pressures will probably ease rents this year anyway, but it stops prices getting out of control in popular areas. Now all they need to do is have a tough system on landlords trying to avoid the system and all is sorted.

AIDS has been spread by lack of contraception, led primarily by the Catholic church's insistence that it was a sin to use it(until recently for the very reason I've just said). Laughing my a#s off!! I personally think only apartment rents will come down, not villas. Yup, expect apartments to be the main driver of the decrease. Villas will follow at a slower rate only as people realise they could have a 2 bed villa or a bigger 3 bed apartment at the same price and move. There are some more vill...

Scott, I suggest that you start a thread titled: PROOF THAT RELIGION CAUSES AIDS. Because that is what you're suggesting apparently. But you need to actually show statistics (I assume you took statistics in university, so you must know what they mean, right?) Yeah, I suggest that you show scientifi...
