Quite possibly. I was in a similar situation coming from the UK. The travel agent told me that I had to have a return or I would not be able to enter the UAE........so I bought one. Can't the company you are going to work for do something?

Hi there. Yes, ideally that's what will happen. But if it is a local sponsoring, they tend to get you ( or her! ) to pay for all the paperwork, medicals etc. and charge a few thousand for the visa. Sauron....I dont know what deposit you are talking about, cuz i didnt pay anything like that... but maybe this applies to expats only . But to answer your enquiry gwpaterson...usually the salary range for new maids starts from 500dhs if they came from certain countries, like India/Sri Lanka/Etheopi...
