I read the website....although I'd much prefer the actual paper itself! Whenever I'm in Dubai, it's one of my "aims" if you like to read the local newspapers, and 7Days is my favourite. I regularly buy Gulf News, but there is so many useless (IMHO) supplements with it! Sage, much like you,...

Dubai for 3 Months...Advice Please!

Right, here's the situation: I'm currently in my final year in high school and, come June, I'll be finished all my exams and ready to go to Dubai for 3 months to (hopefully) earn some money before I become a tax dodging uni student in September. My questions are as follows: 1.) Is it possible for me...

I'm a British Passport holder, yep.

Does it cost to be added to a Residence visa? And if I'm on a residence visa will this not make it that little bit easier (if any) to get work?

Isn't there some sort of special conditions for 15-17 year olds? I've read on one of the Government websites in one of the law documents about this, although I am not sure whether this applies solely to Emirati's or to foreigners as well.

Wasn't there one in one of the local papers in the UAE that said:

"Girl Expelled From School for Being Stinky".

Hehe. When I heard about it, I couldn't stop laughing for ages. Not at the girl, just the choice of language.

I checked Dubai Police's website (http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae) and it appears that it is not possible for a Russian driving license to be changed to a UAE one. The list of accepted countries is listed here: http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/dp/english/e_services.jsp?Page=A26&Id=1095&num2=INF&a...

My dad's passport ran out of pages and so he picked up a new one from the British Embassy. All that they have done is stuck the two together with the relevant security seals and removed the corners to render it void. His residence visa is in the old one and he has no problems.

Naturally, I opted to stay with the most popular of the two forums

Just a thought, have you tried Dubai Libraries? I don't have a scoob about membership and that, you'd need to ask someone on here about it, or try the website http://www.libraries.ae Also, it's a long shot, but have you tried various Spinney's? They have a book section, although it is really limited...
