Yeah that's a bummer. The certain atmosphere of Dubai have made its residents conservative, something which I despise. Not much socializing goes on here. But then again, you are surrounded by scores of malls and shops so why would you need friends :/

Andyba , Yeah I kept that in mind when I went to France, etc. I just bought those reusable environmentally friendly bags. The UAE had yet to learn from them as here they hand out plastic bags as if they were handing out brochures! One item = 1 bag!
