I think its still the fact that the internet is still relatively quite expensive and not widely available but it is increasing in its accessibility so give it a year or so and dubai will be on par with the likes of the uk and usa

do you need to register in advance or is it a "just turn" up event.

the taxi serivce isnt THAT bad.
with a car, you have to deal with the stress of dodging all the bad, inexperienced drivers on Dubai's roads and struggle to find parking at times.
whereas, with a taxi..once you find one..its somewhat stressfree
