Shafique, many women have provided answers here, and you obviously are keeping your own opinions on the matter, so what more is there to discuss? In a nutshell, we women wear whatever clothes we want because a) they make us feel good, b) our culture accepts women's freedom in choice of dress. Too ba...

I agree with Chocs.

Religion definitely helps some people on a personal level, but as soon as you start grouping religious people together the problems begin. I'm not a fan of organised religion at all.

Bushra, you should read valkyrie's post again. He was being humorous, not serious. It is interesting that some of the same people who think that their child seeing their naked body parts is so traumatic, probably allow their children to play violent video games, and watch violent TV shows and ...

I was just going to say the same thing Chocs. Just because the Indians and Pakistanis etc. aren't rounded up and stolen from their villages and taken on ships in chains to Dubai doesn't mean they aren't still slave labour. Companies are making billions of dollars here on the backs of poorly paid and...

I have some religious family members and sometimes I can tell how much comfort it gives them. They like to know that they have a purpose in life, and that something waits for them after. Otherwise, I don't really feel like they are more ethical than other non-religious people around them. Some peopl...

I guess I would agree with that Concord. Religion has good intentions but it is the humans who keep mucking it up and misusing it.

Bed bugs are not prevented if you have a waterbed!
Sheesh! There is a big difference between a bed bug and a dust mite! You can't even see dust mites with the naked eye.

What can you do to manage bed bugs? Refer to the management scheme (flow chart) for more guidance. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/management.html Before considering treatment, collect specimens and confirm their identity (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/specimen.pdf). Managing bed bugs requ...

If you are here for a partner's work contract and you basically are living separate lives and don't actually spend time together - you had better do something about it. Your partner has to realise that work cannot be everything and he/she had better come home at reasonable hours and spend quality ti...

Yes, it is wrong to conclude that men are the only ones benefiting. Women feel good when they look good and can dress for any type of weather. Sun feels great on the skin, and in hot temperatures it is cooler to wear less clothing or only one layer of clothing. Wearing clothing from head to toe and ...

Is it just me, or do the quotes from religous books at the beginning of the article refer to covering of hair, not veiling of the face? The majority of women have neglected their duties as housewives and started competing with men in all fields of life. They are taking part in all sorts of professio...

I have never said that I advocate objectification, and I don't think that being uncovered means that you are prey to objectification. If a man thinks women are only for s.e.x. it doesn't matter what she wears. A woman can be objectified no matter what she wears, and in fact, making women cover up sh...

It is impossible for me to remember all the wording when we have been posting such long posts. Forgive me for my inaccuracy. I have been putting a lot of emphasis on physical attributes because we are talking about outward appearances, not personality. I too shake my head at the skimpy outfits I see...

Yes, a woman can fully choose to dress in a way that I personally find archaic or oppressive and I still respect her. It is the same way that she can still respect me as a person while disapproving of the uncovered way that I dress. Will you not respect your children and let them lead their lives ho...

I thought these words from the article in the other thread may have some resonance here: Women are mixing freely with men, vying with one another in attracting them. They find pleasure and pride in exposing their beauty. They are even competing with one another in displaying their beauty contests f...

I wasn't linking the veil to non-participation in society. The article is not just about wearing a veil - other issues on the role of women are mentioned.

I'm so sorry! To be honest, I had forgotten because I forgot to put it into my calendar. I'm sure the attendance would h...

Mema, I have never said that women who cover up are not smart or outspoken. Also, I am not sure why you think I can't accept that some women want to cover up. As I said, I FEEL THAT A WOMAN SHOULD BE ABLE TO WEAR WHAT SHE WANTS. I respect if a woman wants to cover up, but I personally don't think it...
