Buying in Dubai

Hi, I'm moving to Dubai in July and will be looking for a 1 bedroom apartment, probably in Dubai Marina. Anyway, as we all know the rental rates are ridiculous so i'd consider buying if it was feasible. However, can anyone tell me what kind of deposit mortgage lenders ask for in Dubai? Also, since I...

"I thought that I'd be a catch if I lowered my limit to 6000 Dhs, but still no one seems interested." i just thought i'd throw my tuppence in here, there's a saying in Scotland that if 'you lower the price, you devalue the product'. i'll be honest, i've not quite followed where you're work...

i didn't mean to arouse any aggro, i was just stating my opinion in the hope it might have benefited msafi. however, firstly i think the term 'bullshitting' might've been misleading, i didn't mean lie, i just meant exagerate the positives. secondly, i would stop short of referring to the 'going rate...

hey neltron, like everyone has pointed out, obviously budgetting is dependant on lifestyle but i think your guess seems reasonable. one of my mates from work emailed me his rough monthly budget last month and i'm planning on living within the same means. we're both in our twenties living with our gi...

thanks for your advice Bonk, appreciated also, asc_26, regarding renewing your girlfriend's visa perpetually, there might be a problem with it. that used to be ok but as bonk said, they've changed the rules on renewing visas. someone staying on a visit visa can only renew it twice (initial three mon...

Work / Residency Visa

Hello,

I'd be grateful if anyone had any advice on what the work / residency visa application process involves?

Am I right in thinking that to get such a visa they take a blood / urine sample? Why do they do this? Is it in case of medical emergency or testing for diseases, drugs, etc?

hey, have a look at the Better Homes Real Estate Agency website, they give a good idea of the prices - they are one of the bigger estate agents in Dubai.

There is also a map which might help you figure out which areas are where and so on.

of course it's best to take the cautious approach, but why would they test you for drugs in a medical?? if they had reason to suspect it then of course they'd check, ie if you were in a car accident, but surely they wouldn't take the time and cost of checking you for drugs which if you had in your s...

ouch, four years is pretty severe i think what we're all agreed on is that none of us actually know whether they test for drugs or not, but that it'd be mental to take the chance!! i read in another thread that dxbsoul looked into the various things they tested for a while back, or someone he spoke ...
