What is the point of insurance in a hit and run?

I had my car parked outside my building for a few days, it is also covered to protect the body from sun, moisture, colour fading and so on. Since it is windy today, the cover partially fell off the car. So, naturally, i went out to fix that. Then i saw a dent on the driver's side fender, with some b...

I asked them if the car had full insurance, they informed me that it would be the same thing.

Since there is no one else, how can the insurance company charge another company to cover the expenses.

What a drag, seriously......

Any car, new or old, would require a warm up after sitting overnight. Thing is, it should NOT be warmed up at idle, in other words, you should drive it under light loads, and relatively moderate rpms. This ensures that the engine expands evenly, it also allows not just the engine and oil to reach op...

The grand father of GT: Porsche 917/K Short tail.... Designed in the late 60's, produced in the 70's, and won all races it entered, it still holds the fastest (top speed) on Lemans even today It just shows you that 'old is gold', those cars are virtually bullet proof http://www.heritageclassics.com/...

It takes more than a minute for reaching operational temp. The water temp could rise quickly, just like what it is designed for (the thermostat), however, oil takes twice as long. In other words, if you drive for 6 minutes and the gauge in the car reads normal, you actually need an additional 6 minu...

Don't get me wrong, but i don't see how a Japanese car could be a real DREAm car. Dream cars are cars that you can never own, break rules, virtually crazy if you own one, push the limits of engineering and so on..... Nissan?? sorry, they are nice cars, but not DREAM Talking testerossa's, carrera GT1...

Hope that car is tuned, remember the humidity here is different than that of CA, as well as heat index and heat. The car could drive like a dream there, but drive badly here (unless you can prove so via AFR/Timing). Not to throw anything against you, it's probably a wonderful car, but the last thing...

Nissan will hold it's value, better service & maintenance

SS is faster, but fuel would be an issue (depending if you have money to spare on a V8), not as good service and value is not all that.....

Depends on what you want, you're taste and you're pocket. :P

Auto's are nothing but problems, i don't recall many service centers replacing the fluid, which is the #1 problem why automatics fail. Combine UAE's heat, the service life the auto's SHOULD be reduced. Manuals are nice, the only problem i see here is where people hold the clutch at a traffic light, ...

:?: Not entirely sure what you are referring to. I have used one as a daily for almost two years - including 40 degree heat. Mine isnt really stock anymore and I understand that tuners in the UAE are not always reliable - but there are ways around that problem (although I am vaguely worried about f...

Driving in the city will definately require more time for the engine to warm up properly. You never asked you'reself why you're car's brakes, suspention, shifts (auto) and reaction feels awkward when cold, and feels fine when warm? Now you know.... Think of a cold car as you in the morning, when you...

Cheers XRW :P EGTs are flat at 11.5 once it comes on load. Ill see if I can find the dyno. Keep in mind modern Evos run 18psi dead stock. And to be strictly fair - its only 24 psi in 1st gear where its only loaded for 2 seconds at the most. I drop it 1 psi per gear so by the time you hit 5th its on...

Jamal, I have been working on my 1986 944 Turbo for the past 7 years, all HANDS DOWN experience myself. I strip it, rebuilt half the engine, went into modifications and followed all the specifications/tolerances using the factory workshop manual(s). I also have a number of contacts in the USA, who t...

Its a street car 11.5 leaves headroom Im not chasing stoich. EGTs are in C and thats a peak figure under maximum load (ie momentary) not an operating range. Engine stress is not only a function of load but also time on load. Its loaded a lot longer WOT in 5th than WOT in 4th because you have to fig...

Trust me when i say this.... Knowing how cars (or a certain car) works, is completely different than working on a car.... The smallest of things, could be a 3mm allen bolt, could completely mess up you're work....... Everything is easy on paper.....get you're hand dirty and it's a different story.

Being sarcastic doesn't help much here, since you completely missed my point.

How many engines did you destroy in you're life from finding it's limits?

Dubai Properties

Anyone notice how prices for villas (ranches, springs, medows etc) are just outrageous? I remember back in 2000-2001, prices were much more reasonable, i recall going to emaar sales center and finding a 5 bedroom villa at the ranches, at saheel (i believe), going for 1.7mil......now they hit 6mil ea...

There is no real professional detailing place here..... Professional detailing is when you start colour sanding the car, most places claim to do so, but they don't. Quick lesson, colour sanding is where you (carefully) sand down the whole car with 1000 grit paper, moving to 1500 and ending with 2000...

Since you are in Barain, ask around for a supercharger kit that was introduced there 1.5 years back..... Be arned, any modifications done to the car WILL result in loss of warrenty, if anything happens, the dealer will blame the mods, since he knows he can get away with it. If you really want to get...

The company i last worked for installed 30% tint 3M in both mini busses for ~Dhs700.

I heard V-Kool goes for 1500+ depending on the car.......

I was in the bus once, and barely felt any sun/heat in traffice at 11:00am in July/August......very good stuff.

The old Fords had a serious issue with the transmission (automatics), there was an old saying: "buying a ford? make sure you have a second transmission in the trunk just in case..." Offcourse, technology and reliability came a long way since then, so the 2000+ cars should be able to handle...
