I've also heard there is good diving on the east coast (Fujairah) if you are here for a while and can make the trip.

do you have the specifics on where the EEC is? I have been driving around with just my US licence in my pocket... that will do me little good if I get pulled over. Is it really Dhs 300 to get a local DL? that would make me sad.

you should not be too bothered by the proxy that does all the censoring. I have only hit a few blocked sites. I hear they are expanding its scope into the media and internet cities though so soon there will be no place to go and get around said proxy. oh well.

Not a full review... just a very high recomendation. This is great work by Woody Allen.

Painful to watch at times in the same way as Closer but with charaters you are more apt to root for.

Definitely worth the time and effort to get to MoE to see it on the one screen playing it in Dubai.

go for the Tiger Micca. I took a leap on a red VW back home with the same 'will I still like this in a year?' I am still a fan, 3 years later. I think you will find the same with the tiger over the black... and it won't show the dust as bad.

the level of US paranoia about anything "Arab" is very high. Since 9/11 everything in the ME has been lumped together, little or no distinction between Saudi and UAE.
