Interesting report in the news today.

ajb,

Indeed an interesting report. It reiterates what most of us already know, the Israelis planned this with the help of the US; they just needed an excuse...

This is an excellent article. It's so true, the US (and some UK and other) media is biased, preachy and detached from reality; their choice of words, content and unchallenged opinions reflect their bias in such an obvious manner. I wonder if those people that have been programmed to criticize Al Jaz...

(avoidance?? um, no. let me not avoid then: thanks for the unsolicited, off-topic and quite unnecessary advise).

This bias and narrow-minded media practice should not be typical; it's something you expect in a fascist dictatorial society not in the land of the free...what a shame...

shafique I agree with you on your assesment of the people that watch the mainstream US media. But the fact that many Americans are politically apathetic and have choices to view other media channels does not in any way excuse the propaganda that exists and permeates US media. Truth is being hidden ...

Re: To date or not to date?

Would you date someone if you know he/she’s a Muslim and you’re a devoted Catholic Christian? Coz what’s the point of investing your time and feelings when you know that at the end you will choose a different path. A Muslim should marry a Muslim especially Arabs and a Catholic would wish to be marr...

Again you state the obvious: That hypocrisy and spin exists in every country including Arab countries - well (((hello))) we know this already. My point (again) is that these Arab countries are NOT s...

What a horrible story! It doesn't even seem like a happy ending for the poor girl - after so many years of suffering.

kanelli, If you want to read criticisms of Arab regimes, why don't you start a thread on it? Simple as that. That's a good way for you to complain so much of others that don't agree with you and for you to bash, er, criticize Arab regimes. This thread was about something specific: US media and the w...

jag, I think you and your friend did the right thing in reporting the psycho. These kind of people need to learn that if they act stupid they might at the very least face being called up to the police station. I still think that the reason why there are so many selfish and dangerous drivers on Dubai...

Ian and previous postees makes some very good points... One also has to consider that the US is a country of at least 297 million people with an illegal-status workforce numbering in the tens of millions - a great many under the radar of worker-protection laws. Human trafficking, below-minimum wages...

There is comparison Freza, because the population numbers might be very different but I think you'll find the percentage of immigrant workers in the UAE far higher! Remember 80% of the population here is expat! Not local! Yes, expats are more numerous than locals but how many of those expats are ac...

Freza, I do not have the luxury of time to go searching for facts and figures for you. There's a thing called Google - knock yourself out. But what I would say is that any figures would be distorted as of course many of the workers who're being exploited will not admit to it, for fear of being kick...
