I got a good deal from Al Futtaim Automall on SZR. 100% satisfied, easy financing. From the time I picked the car to leaving with it was 1 day. Top marks to Wayne Basson, the sales guy. He did a great job.

Ever had a "Tiki Puka"????

Holy cow...went to the Madinat last night at a friend's invitation to try a few places. Here's a review: BARZAR.....good live music, not too loud, usual over-priced drinks, but why the heck are there NO seats in the place? There were ZERO stools/chairs on the lower level, and only about 10 on the up...

Luckily I kept my consumption down....others were not so fortunate! Kind of reminds me of the time the gang "discovered" Absinthe (the real stuff) in Spain.

I know someone who recently issued her resume to a couple of recruiters advertising on Dubizzle.com as well as Gulf News. She heard back from every single one. Her resume was proofread, coherent and to-the-point. She is two months employed now and gets daily calls from the recruiters for interviews,...

We usually end up there at least once a week. Thought the last band was better than the current, but give them time, right? This HR pales in comparison to some others....could really use a facelift and an upgrade!

How and why could you be "hidden"?

I'm sure there is a reason, just curious after glancing at the stats. I've never seen people "hidden" before, and now there are two. Why would you do this...scaredy cats!

Ian....I am assuming your response was based on me using the term "scaredy cats" (in ref to your avatar)....figured it was a safer bet than chicken sh**s.

It was a genuine question...not a cat and dog thing.

Re: Agree with burken

I agree with burken, Currently i was residing in Southeast Asia, just recently I was being offered a job in a well establish company in Dubai offering 6000 dirham for my basic pay and 4000 dirham for my accomodation. Do you think that the offer is very low? I have been reading a lot in this forum a...

This place is a ghost town...

And has been all day and night from the looks of things. No musings/observations from Concord, sucking up from the suck-uppers, ramblings of others, not even an out-of-place post. Huh...I guess I came close to a pee-ing contest with ^ian^...that's about it, eh?

Sorry for your loss Concs. Canada is pretty much the same (or slight variations thereof). Regionally, however (French and Atlantic Canada esp.) the catered shindig is usually followed by a two-day bender. Er.."celebration of life".

My favorite is when I order a black coffee (if they have drip) and they leave the top 1/4 "for milk". I always hand it back and tell them to fillerup. Why is it as well when you order an "Americano" it is a few dhs. more than an espresso? Americano is only watered down espresso. ...

I noticed the other day at Le Marche in Arabian Ranches that there is some fool looking to rent their car privately for 1500 per month. Take the job, bring the kids (I think you can)...your hubby can come on a visit visa as recommended, he'll be good for 60 days, then just road trip to Oman until he gets a job. Once he is here, he is welcome to look and arrange his own gig and sponsorship. That is the best arrangement, then you can ...

For muslims it is part of the culture/religion that you bury the body as soon as possible (except ofcourse where there is the need for autopsy, etc ..) There is a prayer right before the body is buried and then you bury it and its without a casket. The body is usually rapped with white cloth only. ...

Anyone into scuba diving?

I did some research and found that there is a diving club here in Dubai. The wife and I were avid divers in our travels, but haven't been in about 2 years. We need a refresher, and then would like to get back into it here. We are PADI certified advanced drysuit divers. We've been diving world-wide, ...

Why would the MOD(S) move my scuba diving thread to Expat help? How the hell is it more relevant there than in general? I am looking for people that are here already, not "moving to Dubai or just moved recently and have questions?" I think asking about diving is as general as any "ski...

I think the cold waters of the BC coast in Canada were the most spectacular as far as photography goes. I would say that this is my favorite spot, but it is not easy due to the gear requirements. As far as fun-in-the-sun dives, I would have to say Hawaii or Great Barrier Reef, maybe Roatan in Hondur...
