Can anyone or everyone tell me what a good living wage is in Dubai expressed as a percent increase over time? I don't need dollar figures, as that is all relative to your lifestyle and financial commitments. It is no secret that people get paid by the colour of their passport (and their skin to many...
Thanks Concs and Ian for your input. I understand, Ian, about your friend who made that salary jump. If your friend kept the same lifestyle/budget as when they were on 7500, they would be saving 3/4 of their income now. But with more money comes a more extravagant lifestyle (at least amongst western...
Not sure if they qualify as fine dining, as there is no "silver service", but pretty much anything at the Bustan Rotana is good in my books. "The Rodeo" is a little overpriced, but good. Their chicken caesar salad rocks and is a meal in itself (my to-from airport fave). As well ...
I think the bottom line is: STOP DRIVING LIKE A D**K! Today I saw a wreck on Oud Metha..numerous SUVS, one was on fire and completely gutted..guess we'll read tomorrow who died. Everyone at the scene was local, and the fire trucks got there behind me. Hopefully the people got out ok, if not, it woul...
You can try "Matchless". I think they are in Bur Dubai. Their cars are crap, but they are cheap, and should not be picky. I think a Sunny is about 1600, although rates change with demand.
Interesting thread .. there a few points to look into here. I understand your strive to keep your employees happy, but its also a questions of supply and demand. If you are giving them 5,000 dirhams a month and they want more, what are the chances you will be able to replace them for the same amoun...
No worries, traffic was stop-n-go as the traffic lights changed. Every time traffic moved a hundred meters, this guy drove like he was fleeing the plague. I've been driving 20 years with no fines or accidents (touch wood). I am always looking for the other guy. It is losers like this that kill peopl...
What is it with the cross racial relationship these days? Does the rolly eyes mean you're against it? Me I'm not particularly for it because we don't know yet how their offspring would fare, genetically speaking. It's like creating a new breed of dog only to find out it's prone to can...
To be honest, I would recommend against it. Instead, divert one phone to the other... divert the one you pay for the calls to the one you don't pay for the calls. Have to agree. My brother got one about a month ago. Now it collects dust in his bag. Totally useless. Bad reception, a call on one inte...
What a stupid thing to say. I believe if your handle is "Pinoy", you are most likely Filipino? Wasn't the Philippines ruled by the Spanish for a little over 300 years? I'm sure there were no inter-racial affairs during that time, after all, it's not like Filipinos have Spanish names or an...
As far as I know, only the caller pays, not the receiver. I guess in theory, though, the diverted phone is "making a call" to the next number, so who knows in this case. I do know that when my company forgets to pay my GSM bill, I can get calls and texts, but not make them.
pick a side? It seems there is a rift in the frequent posters lately. I have to say, as a long time watcher and recent begin-to-start-posting-guy, everyone has their merits. I found this site last year when I was pondering my move out here, and I have to say it was very, very helpful. Obviously I st...
NO..its not abt a number of forumers who could fall into this category or even better.. not abt the forum itself.... What do u consider as some of the most useless and tasteless products of the recent times. Video call on cell phones -- I've never used it or seen anyone using it Agreed..have never ...

I won't sweat it. I read that post of yours a while ago. Very enlightning. Sheikmo still hasn't fulfilled my requests of last week, but I'll use caution. You want controversial? I had an overt display of affection with the wife today at Mall of the Emirates. (does paying for her goods from the "...
Is New Zealand is to Australia as Canada is to the US in terms of "endearment"? I'll field this one: Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians will ALL correct you when being "accused" of being from another place. Americans will just smile and nod anywhere out of the US and glad...
You can bag a villa in Palmera (Arabian Ranches) or in Springs for that much for a 2 bedroom. Don't be fooled by advertised prices, I got mine 30k cheaper than advertised. There are hundreds for rent. Springs is closer, but bad access and a little older. Palmera is new, and access will be good by Ju...
1) You will only be marked if a police is present , right? 2) The papers said "they" the traffic department will inform the owner of the vehicle of the offences. By what means ? There are 147 "rules" they published. Most fines/points can be awarded in the presence of police or w...
We do have a limited budget. Stay in Canada unless your "budget" is 1 million US dollars - seriously. I disagree. You can get a villa cheaper than an apartment. These developers are fkd when it comes to their pricing. I was looking at apartments, then went pro-villa. If you are earning a ...
I just find it amazing how people purchase bottled water purely, as far as I can see, because of the clever marketing of the suppliers. If I had of said to you 15 years ago that you would pay $2AUD for 500ml of water in any westernised/developed country in the world, I would of been laughed out of ...
Bonk, you have to realise that many of these heavy vehicles, hardly have any lights that work at all - let alone fog or hazard lights, many of them are dark in colour and you literally will not see them until they're right in front of your bonnet - no matter how slow you're going. These guys are a ...
I don't have fog lights. It annoys me because it means those drivers have disabled their emergency warning system. Next to the hazard lights... there's these things called brake lights. They only come on when you put your foot on the brake pedal. Exactly.......fog lights are a premium acces. and do...
I would agree with you if, IF every car here had fog lights on them. However they don't, that's a plain and clear fact. Simple point is I'd rather be seen, than not. And until they come up with 'add on' fog lights, that's the way it's got to be. In any other situation, I agree that hazard lights ar...
A slight difference can be found in the Queensland version... Bad weather (e.g. rain, fog, dust) Only use your hazard lights if you are driving in hazardous weather conditions and you are driving slowly and likely to obstruct other vehicles, or your vehicle is stopped and is obstructing the path of...
