true, the contract period is three years, but there is still no guarentee that they will not get a 6 month ban (current regulation) on completion of the contract. it would be best to try and pick the best employer first time round, as i said the security business in dubai is not glamorous or well pa...

i'd consider something along the lines of plumbing or air-conditioning technitions, these are semi-skiled job, but the pay is much better, and no doubt too the accomodation. there is also a limited scope then for them to earn a little extra money doing private work.

you could cancell her sponsorship, however you require the original passport that has the residency stamped into it to do so. that would result in her having to leave within 30 days, she could then, however return on a visit visa and renew it every once in a while. she would not be able to transfer ...

yes, just make sure that the original visa is lodged with visa services at the airport at least 4 hours before the flight arrives or she will not be allowed out of the airport.

bording on a copy is fine, how else would anyone be able to exit the country if they had to produce the original visa....

i agree with the above; there are sales assistants who get paid more! look at a salary of between 4,500 and 5,500 + accomodation. the visa issue, i'd be suspect if they asked you if it was okay for you to travel on a visit visa ... irrespective of what assurances they give. try and check the company...

simple question, but complicated answer. firstly though. have you investigated the market in dubai? starting a business such as this is complicated, you would not be able to run this out of a freezone, so would have to have a local business partner. pm me and i'll give you some more info./ pointers

there is no "set standard" for dress codes. Dubai is quiet liberal in this respect, however bear in mind that it is a Muslim country and you may have business dealings with Muslim people, if you are dressed to liberally they could find it offensive. Start off conservatively, wear a pant-su...

hi here, your educational qualifications will have to be re-attested when you get to dubai, the labour department no longer accepts embassy attested documents. you need to go to a Empost office (Emirates post office), you pay them 500 AED and they handle the attestation of your qualifications. You r...

rumour as usual. the normal process is rumour, followed by sudden, unexpected and un-annouced implimentation. it always happens like that. normally the last to know are the labour and emmigration departments, in most past cases they haven't been informed of any new changes until they read it themsel...

a lot of companies insist on this although it is not law, the reasons are as follows: if the spouse remains on her husbands visa (but is employed by someone else), her permit with the labour department has to be renewed every year; this costs the company about 10,000 AED per renawal she would also h...

howdy sage, my company had to pay 10,000 per annum for my secretary to stay on her husbands visa, but enjoy a labour card from our company. i looked up a few of the payment tables, which i forwarded to xty, it seems it is based on a combination of two factors: 1. the position that the person is empl...

- The employer wants a security so that the employee (my wife in this case) can't change job easily. Because I assume if she's still under my sponsorship, then if something goes wrong the employer can't put a ban or something (unless criminal case). Is that true? Whether she is working under your r...

I agree with the above. My understanding in the relavent FreeZone Authority is actually your labour sponsor, not the company that you are working for in the FZ. This means that if you change positions with in companies operating in the same FZ, you are essentially remaining with the same labour spon...

dxbsoul, One interesting thing that has changed as we are currently experiencing with an employee, is that they may not give you a ban, however they could blacklist you, which means you can't re-enter the country once you've left. I know quite a few people who've fallen victim to this of late, they...

the terms they have quoted you are correct as per the labour law - see below. in otherwords they should pay you 21 x 5 plus a pro-rata amount for anything over 5 years (as you have not completed the full year, only 4 months). My calculations are as follows 30/12 *4 = 10 days (plus the 105 above), a ...

After reading your post (and reply) I’ve been searching for a good analogy of what it is like to work in Dubai. This is as close as I can get, so it’s not 100% accurate, but I’m pretty sure you can draw parallels between the two and extrapolate from there. Take Disney Land in Florida, most people kn...

Dale, I can definitly say that there is work for a skilled plumber in Dubai, most of the plumbers here I wouldn't trust to tape two straws together.
