A 9k salary in Jumeira group is equiv to a restaurant manager - its hardly considered middle/upper mangement level. The position required a Bachelors/Masters degree with extensive work experience. Therefore, I would imagine it to be a more senior position than what you mentioned. I agree, 9k pm (in...

yes, but i'd suggest getting a job before cancelling your families visas.
as far as i know the process is a cancellation of your visa and issuing of a new one through the fz, not a transfer

sharjah is the emirate (and city) basically to the right of dubai. close to the airport from an access perspective. be warned though sharjah is governed differently to dubai - no legal drinking, no bars... basically more consrvative than dubai. prices used to be much cheaper, but have gone up steadi...

there are no postal street deleiveries, you could apply for a post box, it does however depend on which post office you apply to, some of the more central offices normally have a waiting list for boxes, where as some of the more out of the way offices have plenty. or, you could do as the majority of...

17,000 pa. ????

that won't even get you a shoe box, let alone a place in a labour camp!!! (seriously)

be specific about what type of housing you want, and where you want it.

Personally, I’d do the clever thing.. If your company is offering that much per year - clear of any incumbencies. Take the money, get a mortgage - even if it’s a 3 br place in the springs and you have to chip in a bit yourself. You can check with Arnie, but I’d say these have a higher return on inve...

ha-ha, well i can see at least you have tried to do something regarding your situation - more than most problem posters! firstly, what sort of visa do you have and how old are you. was your father's visa issued through the JA FZ, or dubai immigration. i am 100% sure that your fathers' ex-employer wi...

Most definitely, just using the wording "locations throughout the city" starts to make me wonder, accommodation standards are nowhere near equal "throughout the city". In the case of a hotel chain you would expect them to have adequate accommodation close to the hotel, but this i...

Thanks Dee Dee. I'm a copywriter. I almost landed a gig at a "big one" in media city about a year and a half ago. The fit wasn't quite right though. I love it in Dubai and would like to ply my trade as a copywriter over there. How difficult is it to land a job as a writer? Here in Ontario...

Re: Current state of censorship in Dubai

I am contemplating coming to work in Dubai for a year and this is an important issue for me in terms of quality of life. Is internet access filtered? To what extent? Are some websites blocked? Which ones or what categories? Are there ways around it (alternative service providers, academic settings,...

by the way you'll be very lucky to be offered a contract for a year, the norm is a 3 year contract - usually not less!

Hi there, no problem with nitpicking. It is very difficult though to explain things like censorship over a forum, as there is no standard to measure it against. For example I would say that it far more strict than the UK, but less than KSA or Qatar for example. Personally, when I arrived I expected ...

Re: Is this job offer realistic for Dubai?

I have been offered the following to teach conversational English to adults for 30 hours a week. I am wondering if the following terms are realistic for Dubai. After doing a little research on my own, they seem a little high. Salary: USD 4400/month + 4000 at the end of one-year contract yes, pretty...

A free zone is an area (in the case of the UAE a number of areas); that are set up within the national borders of the UAE to encourage business in the region, without the normal business constraints that you would have in setting up a business within the UAE. In the case of the UAE, setting up a bus...

i should perhaps point out that security guards are amongst the lowest paid employees in the UAE, an average salary is in the region of 400 - 500 USD! i hope that they have a better offer than this!
