True, however I seem to recall that if the employee does not give notice of his intentions to end the contract (even though the contact is due to terminate), the employer can expectedly assume that the contract will simply be extended; the same applies from the employees side, if the employer give h...

Difficult question depends on the employer and depth of his pockets. As a guess I'd say look at between 35 and 40 k (AED) starting per month. I may be way off, but this seems like a pretty good starting point. Alternatively negotiate 25 - 30 k per month with expenses (car allowance, accommodation al...

Hi there, The UAE labour law is a federal law issued by the federal government, however as the UAE is a federation, it is up to the individual emirate to determine how exactly the law will be implemented, or if they prefer not implemented. In Dubai there are many examples of this, such as life impri...

Hi there, Look at one of the lists above, it gives the names of some reputable recruitment agencies. If they ask you for a registration fee then they are basically up to no good; the norm in the UAE is that a prospective employer will pay the recruitment agency for the placement of a candidate - in ...

Who’s the registered sponsor of the company, the president of the company? The registered UAE national partner or owner is the person who has to sign the NOC, this is the same person who sponsored your residency visa. If it is a large company you may find the president of the company is not necessar...

It's quite legal for a tennant to give one month's notice even if the contract is not complete. You will possibly loose a month's rental, but the landlord is obliged to refund the balance of the outstanding rent and any post-dated cheques. If he try's to tell you that you will loose the balance of t...

Looks like NOC rule is going to severely restrict anyone thinking of changing jobs within dubai. I talked to many HR people and all of them agree that there is little that can be done about it. NOC can not be over ruled for financial considerations. I have already resigned from my present job after...

I have to point out that "bans" are not a new thing in Dubai, the UAE or the rest of the GCC. Actually in the past the ban system has been a lot hasher than what it currently is and was almost impossible to circumvent. While I don't personally condone some of the business practices; what y...

yes, i've never heard anything to the contrary. there's also a apparently "consultants visa" that you could look at getting through the FZ although it may be a little costly, and there are restrictions on what you can do and where - but it may provide a little flexability if you were wanti...
