You are not allowed to live together without being married in Dubai. So we are getting married. Anyone have a different version? The first part is true (...

mmm... You're right regarding the accommodation, its quiet a pivotal issue as housing can take away anything between 25 and 30% of your salary. The other issue is that salaries are normally fixed for the duration of the contract, whereas housing can theoretically escalate by 10% per annum, eating aw...

Firstly I have no idea what no-chicken man is going on about??? Anyone? Secondly, I would assume this is a large, existing company. Please don't fall for the old "tell us what you want" line, i would assume that this is an existing position that you are filling and that there is/ was a sal...

I was given a tip yesterday [by a guy who's been here for 20yrs]. If anyone fks with him - tailgating, one fingered salute etc - he jumps out, doesn't even look at them and takes a photo of their number plate. To date, I'm unsure if he's actually reported any of these to the Cops, but his photo gal...

you are correct, the salary for this position and at level of experience (also taking into account the prominence of the employer) should be at least double what they are offering you.

my suggestion would be:

basic 20,000 - 25,000 pm
accom 7,500 - 10,000 pm
vehicle 3,000 - 4,500 pm

Seems to me that you haven’t done much in the way of market research! You can’t consider asking people (on a forum) for a list of grocery stores in Dubai as market research either. Remember Dubai is not some back water trading town. For all it’s little quirks and faults it has a very well developed ...

It could be that they want you to haggle a bit; this is a very common practice there. Possibly go back to them with a counter offer, which you can justify, quiet easily with research into the cost of living in Dubai etc. But counter with way above what you are wanting to settle on (possibly take the...

Re: Single American Woman --> Dubai

Hi to all who read, I am a 23-year-old American woman, currently living in Brussels, who has the opportunity to live and work in Dubai for an 8 month assignment. I would be arriving around April 1st and staying until the end of November, 2007. Assume this is supposed to be 2008? I know that I will ...

you don't say whether the amount 12,150 is per month or per annum. did they give you a break down of the package as it may be easier to put it into context. at first glance if it is 12,150 per month and your'e staying in sharjah, yes you could get by quiet comfortably on this - and a simple lifesty...

well the first thing would be to go and look at http://www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/ and possibly register your CV on line with them.

Second look at Etihad as well (although this would probably be based in Abu Dhabi)

little bit vague on the management issue. are we talking 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 star hotels?? dubai has thw whole spectrum as well.

in general hotel positions (unless with international groups) are quite poorly paid as they can get cheaper "skilled" persons from eastern europe or the philippines

Re: The Ultimate Dubai BAN Guide

Sorry for not being more active on the forum recently. As to the Emirates/ DNATA question above. Firstly, I don't know, I will have to check for you. Normally when moving from public to Government positions the ban is not applicable. However, Emirates and DNATA are semi-government, this means that t...
