Yes, you might find a short course at one of the universities or colleges at Knowledge Village or Academic City . Both places are full of young students. If she's into media etc, then KV is near Media City so might be a better choice. Or join a sports/hobby club. The Dubai Film Festival (held in Dec...

Problems with what? Travel time? Solutions are 1. Find school close to home. 2. Find home close to school. 3. Use school bus service. 4. Employ driver. 5. Between you and other parents living in same area rent minivan and driver to take group of kids to school. 6. Carpool with parents from same or n...

pobrien - some of the better schools are popular and full. Al Barsha, Emirates Hills, Umm Suqueim and maybe Mirdiff have some good (& expensive) schools, and are popular areas to live for western expats. Here's a list of Dubai schools . USAtoDubai - Dubai Marina is closest to DMC, or Al Sufouh a...

Clause 2 sounds normal enough. Clause 1 is a problem. As far as I know, the employer is responsible for all visa costs, issuance of work permit etc. Even during probation. 6 years is a long time for a contract. Most are 1-3 years. Usually if a contract includes a clause that contravenes the law, it ...

It probably depends on which country you're from. If you can get a visit visa on arrival then it will be much easier. Dubai visa rules changed recently and there's still some confusion.

Yes, I think Sharjah English School is a good choice. There's a Sharjah English College expansion also. Although it's not so far from Mirdiff, the National Paints roundabout between Dubai and Sharjah gets horribly choked up, and the 611 road alternative can often be slow also. If SES have a bus, put...

Many job hunting websites are just collections of advertisements from recruitment agencies, or even other job websites. No telling how up to date they are. Some are outright scams. Try contacting agents directly. Here's a list of some Dubai job agencies to start with.

Dubai visa rules have changed. Websites, embassies, DNRD officials will give conflicting stories and in the end you won't get a definitive answer because there will always be someone to give you contrary information. Buy an airline ticket which you can change the date of return flight, ask on arriv...

Re: Some questions on salary and housing

3. Is it advisable to live in Al Ain if you work in DIC? I don't know about rents in Al Ain but I know I'd rather do the long drive and listen to audiobooks than live in Sharjah and sit in a traffic jam all the time. It might even be quicker from Al Ain. But like dxbsoul says, try a share option fo...

All Dubai banks are much the same in the end - what I mean is you'll get annoyed sooner or later with any of them.
