If you do a visa run after expiry, you get fined. It was 100 dhs plus 100 dhs per day before visa changes. Probably still the same.

1. Choose the school you want and apply directly. 2. Try one of the job fairs - ECIS or Search Associates. 3. Look in the TES or TIE. Pay for western educated teachers 5k-20k dhs per month. Lots more information here - teaching in Dubai . And these guys might be looking for teachers if you're feelin...

Investor visa if you invest with a UAE company (see UAE visa table).
Or set up as a freelancer in one of the free zones (cheapest way) or a free zone company (see UAE free zones).
Or if you have a free visa on arrival passport, do a visa run to Oman every month (but that has its limitations).

Bad:
It smells
Queue of trucks blocking entrance (unless that's been fixed?)
Rats apparently
Cheap
Lack of facilities

Good:
Cheap

If you're working at DSO, look for an apartment there - there's a handful of buildings that look finished.

would cost you a lot more than 70K got a local business start-up, the company has to be financed to a tune of 300k on registration. add to that all the registration and legal costs ... etc I meant something different. Instead of you setting up a business, you invest 70k into someone else's UAE busi...

Depends on the school. Dubai English Speaking School pays well (maybe 15k per month?) for example, but Indian and Arabic curriculum schools pay 2k or less per month. Choueifat Schools maybe 5k-7k per month, and so on ...

the visa is not granted until the property is paid for in full. Is this true?? Not quite. As dxbsoul says, you have to wait until completion, and even then visa is not granted. It just means you can apply for a visa. Some confusion recently and it's not exactly clear whether you can even do that now.

dbxsoul wrote:I’m not quiet certain how you came across the 70k for the investment visa

Maybe my earlier comment. There is a specific "investor visa" category I've seen with the 70k figure, different from visas your company can apply for after formation. I never investigated any further.

Traffic is bad everywhere but as routes go, it may be relatively ok. Use Al Khail Rd or Al Qudra - Emirates Rd (new Arabian Ranches roundabout has just opened)

You mean work permit / labour card? That and residency would usually be processed together. Once documents get handed to relevant department, should be a couple of weeks (allow more for what dbx said). Slowness is more likely company's fault than visa office.

Re: Drivers License

My cousin who's a Canadian citizen claims that she can't transfer her drivers license to a U.A.E one because of the new laws. She's now living in Dubai, away from her kids and husband in Abu Dhabi just so she can take classes. I happen to be a U.S. Citizen, with a Washington state issued drivers li...

There are. Or cameras that aren't working for whatever reason. I've been past cameras too fast but not received speeding tickets.

There might be a bit of a delay because it's Ramadan - everything slows down. There might be a problem between the company and the immigration department, or the company is slow. Sounds a bit too much like a story try and put you off. Do they want you to work without a work permit?

Yes. Depending on where you stay and work you might find DXB-AUD commute is quicker than driving across Dubai or doing SHJ-DXB commute.

I did it for a few years. Got some audiobooks and a comfortable car and it was fine.

Re: Need amateur photographer in Dubai!

Don't rate your chances of being in the UAE for long afterwards though. Hobson's Choice then? If that's the way they operate then no surprise they've got no problem stealing content from other websites. Still, it's not as if they're the only one. At least Mr Google does a reasonable job of hammerin...

I am gobsmacked at this. Even for a basic "first - aider" in work etc, the advice is that if a neck injury is even micro suspect, you DO NOT move the casualty. There are NO exceptions to this. I think my medical qualifications amount to a first aid certificate from school about 100 years ...

A 10 day bank holiday? Great news! I thought Eid was only 3 or 4 days. UK nationals don't have to leave for 30 days - there was a report saying that but then another visa official said no (see the UAE visa info for more). Re: Taking kids to school

Heard of a round trip of 4 hours just to take your kid to school. Obviously depends on where you live in relation to school but is it that bad?
