Re: I'm going to get a Residence Property Visa...how it work

1. processing could be about 1-2 weeks
2. You lose residence visa if you are away from the UAE for more than 6 months. I don't know if there's a minimum time period you have to stay in the UAE.

There was a recent report change in the law which allowed for young adults/students to work. I don't remember details, and it may not apply to visiting students. Try searching gulfnews.com, they're usually ok with stuff like that. Another possibility might be the mission visa although I don't think ...

1. Consider a mortgage? While you're employed you may be able to get one. Once you leave job, bank should be fine as long as you keep up payments (and don't tell them you're unemployed). Current rental income should cover mortgage expenses on studios, 1 bedrooms. Residence visas only for completed p...

Yes there are short term apartment lets - but not cheap. 15-20k for a good 1 bdrm per month. Try some Dubai real estate agents.

You should find villa rooms for 4k-8k (poor-good). Newspaper classifieds, supermarket noticeboards, online classifieds.

there is governement medical "assistance" which at the moment is mandatory by law. this is included under your labou card. Er, is it? Don't you have to get a separate health card (for 300 or something dirhams)? And mandatory in Dubai I thought was coming, but not yet. Only Abu Dhabi so far?

You mean a server setup for use only at home? That's not dependent on ISP. But I guess you're accessing your home server from remote locations. I'm not very knowledgeable about that kind of setup - don't you need a fixed IP for that? You'd have to try and buy one I think. Etisalat, so I presume Du a...

There's no mail delivery in the UAE. Although with the street numbering system coming, there are rumours of Emirates Post starting mail delivery. Don't hold your breath though.

There were reports of a Swiss man detained at the airport because a couple of poppy seeds were found on him. Another chap was stopped because some grass was detected on the sole of his shoe (he was let out eventually, don't know about the Swiss guy). Authorities will do urine and blood tests if they...

That's unlucky but it sounds like pressure was put on the cops, if pushed, cops will have to deal with it because you are breaking the law.

What C said is about right usually.

I think you should check with the RTA. Iran is not on the list of countries which can do a Dubai licence exchange. Normally that would mean you need to do lessons before doing a test.

you are both eligible for a residence visa if there is a visa applicable on the property by the government. That may not be correct. I have a contract which says only the first named buyer can apply for a visa. And as C says, you are not eligible for a visa, you are eligible to apply for a visa. Th...

Re: Moving to Dubai

Any suggestions?? Most places in Dubai could be 45 mins from Sharjah if there's no traffic and you drive fast. But nowhere will be if there's a traffic jam. Try Emirates Hills, or somewhere closer to Emirates Road - at least driving Dubai to Sharjah in the morning is opposite direction to most traf...

France is on the list of countries that can exchange licenses? But Sharjah is a funny place, and can be more random than Dubai. What shaq said is right...

No. But take it anyway, you can only try.

Residence visa - permission to live in the UAE
Employment visa - permission to enter the UAE because you have a job
Work Permit / Labour Card - permission to work in the UAE

See UAE visas for more.

What kind of visa should I ask for her from my employer so that she gets teh best deal? Your employer won't give her a residence visa unless she works for them.
