If you got married in India, then the UAE embassy in the USA will want someone they trust to verify...

There's three types of connections (at least with Etisalat, Du probably the same). Post-paid account (you need residence visa for this one) Al Wasel pre paid (any visa fine) Visitor connection pre paid I think the Al Wasel works out cheaper than the visitor package, especially if you want to use it ...

do I need to arrange a visa bfore arriving in Dubai or do I get issued one when arriving? I think you need to arrange one? South Africa not on the list on countries that can get a visit visa on arrival in Dubai . But a tour operator can arrange a Tourist Visa for you (not the same as a Visit Visa)....
