Not easy unless you have a residence visa. I heard HSBC might open an account without one. See banks in Dubai for more.

Re: Driving to Muscat

DeeDee wrote:Are there any mentionable areas to stop by on the way?

The border crossing  ...

Nizwa is interesting to visit but not the quickest route. Sohar about halfway on the coast maybe. I'd just carry on to Muscat though. About 4 hrs.

1. Not much on the way.
2. 12-15 hrs.
3. Trees and beaches.

Go in the summer, it's green but cloudy. Go in the winter, it's warmer than Dubai and sunny.

Possibly, depending on where you work in Dubai. You could avoid the National Paint jam by getting on to the 611 road.

What center? There isn't one. Do you want a tent or a palace?

100,000 per year gets a decent 1 bdrm apartment.

Look for non-profit school as a first indication of somewhere decent. That's not to say profit making schools are bad, there are good ones. GEMS and Beacon are two organisations that run several schools in Dubai. Beacon probably rate better. I thought Raffles ownership changed to a local company? Do...

Without being too crude I think he'd like to meet some girls. Introduce him to your girlfriends? Rock Bottom and Jimmy Dix should sort him out. And things can only get better once you've done those two places. Maybe Zinc, Trilogy, Barasti Bar downstairs (forgot the name), Bar Zar. But C is right, S...

Re: buying property

The tenant can argue that they can't find anything comparable for the price they are paying and so they are entitled to stay for at least 3 years. This seems absurd if I am taking out a mortgage and I cant live in it and they are able to stay and pay under market price for rent. Is this really the ...

Visa to Oman is required unless you are GCC national, I think you just wave ID card then. Visa at Oman border easy for some nationalities, probably the same as the list for UAE. Oman visa run might help. Going to Hatta you drive through Oman but no passport & visa office until after Hatta. Simil...

I'd go for a Dubai visa. One reason would be more cars for sale in Dubai, if you have an Abu Dhabi visa you are likely to have to register car in Abu Dhabi which means buying one there, or going through export process with a car bought in Dubai.

Yes, you only get email at emirates.net.ae (or at eim.ae - they are both valid) when you sign up with an internet connection. I have DSL and email address, so don't know how you missed out.

RAK to Dubai on Emirates Road has a bottleneck at National Paints roundabout in Sharjah. There is a long way around - exit at Umm Al Quwain and find the 611 Road. Or even longer past RAK Airport to Dhaid and then Dubai. Al Ghusais a bit cheaper for rent but you'll be stuck in traffic anytime you wan...

Re: Where can I get Duabi Visit Visa at low cost ?

Where can I get Visit Visa at cheap rate? If you're in Dubai already, do it yourself at the visa department. Your restricted to one renewal I think then you have to exit the country. If you're not in Dubai, you're stuck with an agency unless you can find a friend to do it. It's not helpful that you...
