Re: New Internet Connection HELP!!!

Arinegangs url is .ae which is country specific and will not show up world wide. Thats why .com .net .org and .info are better domain extensions. They are "generic" and are visible world wide. County specific domains such as .ae are not. The visibility of a website around the world does n...

Re: need help about nearest hotel

Other hotels on SZ Rd near there are more expensive. Further away is Karama which might have something, or in the other direction is a Holiday Inn near Safa Park I think. Might also be a Rotana Centro in Satwa (was planned, don't know if open yet).

Re: Dubai Marina Metro Station

Anyone know when it's due to open? I heard somewhere it was mid or end of February. Last official information from the RTA was by the end of February, but there was a 7 Days story in January that opening would be delayed until April 2010. The RTA didn't comment so it's probably correct ;)... http:/...

Re: Dubai Metro Red Line to be completed in April 2010

Should be interesting to see if they actually achieve their objectives. The RTA press release only named 7 stations opening on 25 April, with the others opening later in 2010. Maybe they have learnt not to be so optimistic with their statements - in January they said everything was on schedule. htt...

Re: Recommend a school for 11yr old?

Excellent that you are making a trip with your daughter to decide on a school. The important considerations (apart from the obvious one that it is a "good" school) are Location - look at a map of where you live, and work, and where school is. Don't pick Deira for school if you live in Duba...

Re: Israelis will now be denied entry into Dubai

Not all Israeli citizens are Jews (I think about 20% of the population are Arab Muslims or Christians). Not all Jews are Israeli citizens. UAE immigration policy routinely denied entry to Israeli passport holders before recent statements (with exceptions for tennis players and other special cases). ...

TimeOutDubai Twitter says this today

Just heard a rumour of an absolutely massive concert. (Dubai's biggest ever maybe?) Details might be announced at the Sting concert tonight!

Any guesses? My money's on U2 (wishful thinking more than anything) ...

Second pick ... er choice would be ACDC

Re: From Shj - AUH, How Much Time Will It Take?

3-4 hours because you will be caught in two traffic jams. First is the one coming into Dubai from Abu Dhabi, although you might be leaving early enough to avoid the worst of it. Second is the one into Sharjah from Dubai. Yes, the 611 road is the best to get around Dubai and Sharjah. You could consid...

Re: Sting at the races

Anyone see the event? Yes, fantastic. Although a couple of songs were poor. Desert Rose was disappointing, much better when he played at Tennis Stadium few years ago. Saw Santana last year at DFC (or was it 2008?). Superb, should be a great show at Meydan. Some videos of Sting at Meydan... http://w...

JH to Sharjah much easier drive than AUH-SHJ. Several ways to get into SHJ from Al Ain with less traffic than AUH-SHJ route. Distance in km probably similar.

I'm simply stating to you lot who jump up and down and go 'it's against the law, you'll get arrested on the spot' etc etc, to stop scaring people. Because it has never happened, and that's a plain and simple fact. Never? I think there are a number of people who have been arrested, convicted, jailed...

Withdraw all the cash from an ATM in the UK (or do a wire transfer), then send a letter to tell them to close account?

Re: Alcohol from Ajman & UAQ to Dubai

Ajman police clearly states at the bottom that non-Muslims can purchase alcohol and transport it in any emirate if they have a legal license. Re: Signing a letter of intent

I agree. A letter of intent is not the same as a contract but check the wording carefully. If they say to you to enter the UAE on a visit visa rather than provide you with an employment entry visa, then you should be fine. If they get an employment entry visa issued, that means they have started the...
