Even Dubai Forums has got its clock wrong. Look at the postings. 11.51 AM is followed by 12.28PM , followed by 5.32 PM !! Does that make sense?? Yes. Anyway, it's the php date function that governs the display, using a UNIX timestamp. Any php script using 'A' or 'a' as part of the date() format str...

FROM WIKIPEDIA Not an authoritative source. The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, states: To avoid confusion, the correct designation for twelve o'clock is 12 noon or 12 midnight. Alternatively, the twenty-four-hour-clock system may be used. The abbreviation a.m. stands for ante-meridiem (before...

Something as basic and as IMPORTANT as TIME , should not be open to confusion OR DEBATE !! Good point. I guess that's why the NMM, NIST, and other authoritative bodies have clarified the issue. Of course they can't force you to agree with them if you want to be the odd one out and disagree with the...

Ask at hotel if they have facilities. There are a couple of nurseries in the Mankhool area - they might have short term daycare arrangements. http://www.dubaifaqs.com/toddlers-international-nursery.php http://www.dubaifaqs.com/british-orchard-nursery.php http://www.dubaifaqs.com/de-la-salle-montesso...

I'm planning on moving from UK to Dubai. I've been given a job offer for 30k aed /month (all inclusive, but they pay for medical & insurance aswell). I currently get £50,000/year in the UK. The 30k looks quite good as its tax free but I'd like to know if I can have a decent quality of life livi...

It's not huge but decent enough depending on what sort of sales manager and company. Biggest expenses are taken care of. Allow 15k if you want maid/nanny or 20k-30k for nursery per year.

I'd be amazed if you paid anywhere near 100k per year to rent a one bedroom apartment in International City. You can buy them outright for around 500k. You'll have a fairly good life living on that salary. International City is a bit of a dump. Plenty of wildlife though. Well, rats. Yes, IC one bed...

Abu Dhabi hotels generally expensive. Low supply, high demand, limited space for new construction. There's a Centro by Rotana supposed to open on Yas Island in 2009, and maybe a Park Inn, both 3 stars so should be cheaper but not during F1 weekend. Also a Centro on Airport Rd, and a Premier Inn some...

If the mum says you're the girl then maybe you are (usually no girl is good enough for a mother's son). But ask the mum, don't believe the guy.

Re: Alcohol from Ajman & UAQ to Dubai

Great information regarding the license, the point about buying from the Barracuda may be correct, however you are not legally entitled to transport it out of UAQ/Ajman because you will not have paid the 30% federal liquor tax. I thought if you showed your licence at UAQ/Ajman then you paid the tax...
