Re: Remarrige Good Or Bad?

Well, if your father is reasonably wealthy and his love interest isn't fickle, then sometimes this kind of marriage works out and ends up happily ever after & I've seen it happen. The man has a trophy wife and the girl gets her social status raised. I think your father needs to get legal advice ...

Re: We Buy .C A R S . Non Working . J U N K . Damaged .Or No

I don't know if this affects any members. If you do have a car that you want to scrap, you need to know what it's worth so you know how much to ask for. I got rid of an old fiat coupe recently that I didn't think was worth fixing. I have no idea what a scrap car is worth. I called a guy who left his...

Re: Etisalat Technicians Are Incompetent Idiots!

I had a drama with Du actually when they transfered my internet connection to a different address then wouldn't fix it because they said their operations department didn't have a work order to transfer it back. It took about 20 phone calls to get that straightened out. Logic and courtesy doesn't see...

Re: Currency Crisis?

Let me qualify by saying that picking the currency markets is very difficult and if I could do it accurately, I'd be rich beyond imagination (which I'm not). A useful indicator to what currencies are doing in the future (probably the most important indicator) is the relative interest rates between t...

Re: No Wedding Bells For Bert And Ernie !

I think a lot of people would like to see Bert and Ernie get married. Even in open minded Western countries most homosexuals feel the need to hide their orientation and lead secret lives as society just doesn't accept their orientation. It's not going to happen as Sesame St is too conservative for t...

Re: Natural Gas Pricing Vs Electric..

When you say Natural Gas, presumably you mean LPG (ie comes in cylinders) as very few places have natural gas connected in this country. I think you will find that LPG and electricity are both cheaper in Dubai than in most places. I think it costs about 80AED to get a cylinder delivered to my home. ...

Yes it's probably a central tank.

DEWA meter your electricity and water and charge for consumption - so you will save a little money if you turn off stuff when you're not using it.

Re: Narcissistic Personality Disorder

I have known narcissistic people over my life. Their defining trait is that they love attention but have no empathy for others. It means nothing to betray someone's trust or cause someone pain. They usually don't enjoy the suffering they cause others, they simply don't care. These people aren't all ...

Re: Superstitious Beliefs In The Koran

I have known Muslims who take magic very seriously, particularly when I was in South East Asia. Some believed that performing magicians were in league with the devil.

When I came to Dubai I was surprised to see a magician performing in a shopping mall. I guess they are ok with that here.

Yeah, there are mystics in every corner of the Subcontinent who are offering all kinds of supernatural services. But even in this enlightened age,...

Re: Laundry Service For Full Bag..

What difference does it make if they charge per piece or per bag? Why is giving you a rate per piece a deal breaker for you? I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but laundry services normally charge 1AED to clean a pair of socks. If you go there with an odd number of socks in your laundry bag, t...

Re: The Scientific Miracles In The Holy Quran

Shafique, you are asserting your freedom of conscience but this freedom is not guaranteed. The idea that scriptures are symbolic rather than literal is a very old idea. Trouble is that if scriptures are not literally true, that is another way of saying they are false and that upsets some people. I d...

Re: looking for insight

There are a million reasons why a man would not want to have sex with a woman. Who knows - better discuss it with him.

It seems unlikely that it's about race. It could be he has commitment issues. Having an affair with a married women is a relationship with a built in expiry.

Re: The Scientific Miracles In The Holy Quran

So Shafique is saying why should it matter if he believes in talking ants or not as there is no code of moral behaviour that derives from the literal truth of the existence of talking ants. So nobody says, "I'm going to do some act because ants spoke, but if ants never spoke I'd do something di...

Re: Emirates ID Card Deadline Update

The deadline has had a few false starts. That was really bad luck on his part that he wanted to r...

They don't have gloves or head protection because they are grappling, not boxing. I did something similar when I joined a judo club as a kid.
