Overall a good hotel.

Like Maaad said, its like living in a mall. Think of KLCC in Malaysia but bigger and better - just no twin towers to tour.

On the corporate / convention side of things they are 100% crap. You have to chase them down every step of the way - even just to get function menus.

Most apartments in the marina have a decent sized balcony - keeping it clean is a different story. Most of the new buildings will have a balcony that stretches across at least one room, and some over several so you might be lucky to find one suitable to hold the great aussie bbq. Agree with mash - their lack of advertising and presence is pretty dismal in comparison with their marketing / presence in other countries.

Sarcasm in itself is a method of logical discussion, and the only appropriate way to deal with it is either to ignore it or go with the flow. Either response is deserved. I have been told that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but I think that was by someone who just didn't get it. Only 2 cultures...

I think the recent estimates suggested out of the 1.3M population about 900,000 are ex-pats! such lucky people these expects...how I sooo wish I was living there.... Mate, if you are handy with a broom and can live off 300 pounds per month you too can join the growing Dubai "expat" commun...
