Oj, I know what you meant...

To clarify. SF = Shark's Fin, as in artificial SF is available. Citation of fur in its original context was an analogy.

Even though you're working in a 'tax-free' country if you're on a US payroll you tend to pay 'hypo' tax.

'Hypo' = hypothetical tax. If you're an expat on a US payroll you're subject to US taxes. Although most companies will only deduct a 'hypo' amount from your pay and the difference to actual tax due is paid by the company. I have no idea about French tax system so can't provide any comment for your s...

Chocco, lebs vs Viets vs Abos vs the rest have been raging for a fair while now. Just not publicized in the global arena. In this instance it wasn't so much of kicking off but slagging contest - "bunch of telibans" & "bunch of convicts" etc. Makes for an interesting encounter. Perth, like the re...

Liban, thats like labelling anyone of middle eastern origin a relative of Osama and assuming they must also be a terorist.

And knowing Jeanna personally, I can safely say you could not be further from the truth on this one.

G, floating market and grand palace are around the same area so thats a one day outing. Local markets are nothing fantastic and by no means a tourist attraction. What you want is to go to Jatujak - weekend market. Worth about half a day walk and for shopping the shops around Siam area will do nicely...

Liban, there's plenty more to Thailand than playing bang-ur-rooster. Prostitution is no less active here than it is there and any whore regardless of race, colour or origin is gross.

Re: FZ

as an employee the biggest drawcard is that you can't be banned (labour or immigration) if you transfer off of your sponsors visa - which happens if you try it outside of the FZ. Assuming your contract reflects this and your visa is processed accordingly. You'll find a lot of the labourers are stil...

1) 90k will get you a good sized 2 bedroom apartment in some of the newly finished apartments in Dubai Marina. You can also consider a good villa around Umm Suquiem area for 100-120k per year. 2) Dependant on your lifestyle and spending habits. Ask your employer whether water, gas, electricity etc a...

Volvos don't tend to have good resale value here.

I found the Discovery to be too 'sloppy' on and off the road. If you can afford it go the L. Prado or Landcruiser. But for a 1.5/mth budget you're probably looking for a Patrol or Pajero market.

You won't go wrong with 2 prados/lancruisers. And they retain pretty good resale value as well as being easy to sell on.

Prados are like the lower end landcruisers. Diff shape and engines etc but still solid drivetrains. Happy hunting!

For that sort of price range you'll be looking at a fairly old range rover - when they sucked even more than they do now. And probably a slightly "newer" navigator compared to the RR, but still I think you'd get one with high kms. Personally I would be looking for a newer Patrol or Pajero for that s...

Yeah, Satwa tinting is a roll of the dice. Agree with Yorky. HSV (Head Start Vision) opposite Lamcy's is a good place for quality 3M tinting. Standard price list is 750AED for an average sized car - family sedan. Of course you talk them down from there and you get a 5 year warranty against bubbling,...

Outside? Haha... now that's gotta be a first... Talk about cutting corners!

Tint can fade on the inside too - mostly cheap Taiwanese stuff. Most 'cheap' American tinting will still be metal based so shouldn't turn even after a few years.

Still a nice price there Fayz.

I would actually throw a Grand Cherokee into the mix there, great all round car and you can still dune bash with it. Although out of the four I'd side with the Patrol. Whack an RB26TT engine in there and tailgate some 911 turbos.

Stay well away from Kia and Hyundais.

Well, considering he's after an M3/M5 engine its safe to say it'd be going into a beemer, which have been efi for quite some time. That said one would have to question the feasibility and availability of one. With the sort of $$$ he's looking at he'd probably be better, easier and safer off to rebui...
