I look for whether the candicate has any relevant practical experience - internships etc shows initiative. GPA is not always an indication of position fit. Personality, confidence and charisma weigh more in an interview than academic abilities alone. Remember that the learning doesn't stop after you...

Coops, obviously mraph33 has had some bad experiences with ABN Amro. From personal experience I have found them to be great to deal with both on personal and corporate banking - I have a customer relationship officer for both. The only thing I fault is the lack of internet banking - non existent! mr...

K, I find if I spend more hours working I tend to lose weight cause its less time I have to be out there enjoying food. Sitting at my desk and munching away doesn't help much either - it still sheds off... sigh.

Ditto Ian. Emotional barriers might be higher or (seemingly) stronger than a girl but when they come down we hurt just as badly - we're humans too!

Pretty common for the lack of personal internet banking around here. Stick with HSBC or Citibank if internet banking is a strong criteria. You gotta remember the (important) client base here prefers the personal touch.

Yeah I usually just drink myself into a stupour for a few days, but finding it hard to do that these days. Investing 2 years of your life into a relationship only to see it fall apart is truly heartbreaking, especially when one isn't getting any younger. Yah, been there, done that. Just remember al...

Alcohol and the like only suppress and delay what you need to go through to get over someone. Its never easy... but its not the end - no matter how much it feels like it.

Hey buddy,

Tisk, tisk... I never said there weren't any probs. As with anything (particularly banks!) there will alwayz be problems - its how these problems are dealt with/handled/resolved that differentiates dumb from dumber.

That's my point exactly Maaad but I can only comment based on actual personal experience. Can confirm that AA lack branches - 1 to be precise, but ATMs are in most major malls and most of their account structures waive withdrawal fees from other switch ATMs.

I have many (MANY) black african friends here and they haven't had trouble finding a job. You just have to be more proactive and keep your goal in mind. Don't be phased by set backs - learn from them.
