As it nice to see the mods here actually doing their job or should I say the "Admin" can you leave my post about contents insurance for a few days as hardly anyone visits the products section. Instead of spending your time moving and tidying why don't you implement code to stop the spammer...

You will need to be out of the UK for 1 whole tax year which is April to April. So if you came out in say Oct 2008 and went home to the UK in Oct 2009 this is not a full tax year and the UK will hit you for tax when you come back. You need to inform the tax office that you are intending to be out of...

I agree.

35K AED per month is around 58K UK £ per year. You might think that this is a jump from 45K a year which you are currently on but don't forget Dubai is expensive! You need to justify the move.

Depending on what you are earning you can defer payment on your student loan. If you are already paying it I think you have to continue. I carried on paying mine from here and just transferred money into my UK account every month from my UAE account. Check with the student loan company. Regarding yo...

Your location of your office will more than likely dictate where you are going to live. Rent is expensive here. Try to get it to increase to 100K (Another £3K). This will ensure that you can get a good 1 bedroom apartment (just). How long is your secondment? If you are here for a year then the tax f...

Unfortunately - yes I have been there for business and holidays in the past and never enjoyed it. Paris in my opinion is the worst place. Rude people and the place is so dirty. I've seen areas of Pakistan that are cleaner.

Just my opinion - but would never go back for pleasure.

Parking sensors?

I received a quote from Liberty to install front and back parking sensors on my Hummer H3 for 1600AED. Could anyone tell me if there are any cheaper places in Dubai and what the quality is like? Is 1600AED expensive for this? This is to install the sensors and the feedback unit inside the car that s...

The reason I posted is because I do not want to pay 1600 AED. Where does it say that I do.

Where are these "Iranian" shops and how do the sensors install onto the car?

Cool thanks. How much did you pay?

Will they do the installation if I pay? Can't be bothered to do it myself.

I don't get it! 'Parking sensors'? Can't people just learn to park using their spacial awareness, or have people just become too lazy and rubbish at parking. Wait what am I saying, most of the people I see on the roads here can't even reverse parallel park. I wondered when you would come onto this ...

Oh yeah and run the risk of the car being dented in the learning process. The thread is about sourcing the sensors - not whether I should or shouldn't have them. Please keep the thread on topic. Oh and why do you keep saying "Err" or "Er" in your threads. You sound like a Califor...

Rent increase question???

I am currently renting a 1 bed apartment in Dubai Marina. My tenancy started on Oct 2006 and I re-newed in Oct 2007. When I re-newed, my landlord stated that he wanted to increase the rent. I told him that there was a rent cap in place and he could not increase anyway as the municipality stated that...

Thanks for the replies. The annoying thing is he knows nothing about the laws here as he lives in Iran. He thought the rent cap was still 7% here and hasn't bothered to look into the laws at all and just thinks he can dictate to me. If I will file a case against him he will probably turn around and ...
