The balance you refer to is the minimum balance. Just stick 5000AED in the account to open it and then withdraw it or most of it. You get charged 100 AED per month when you go below this 5000AED. When you get paid you'll be above it.

I had this problem too... Create your login on the salik site and you can check the transactions on your account. I recently sold my car and took the old tag out and the buyer of the car then purchased their own tag but for some reason it went onto my account due to a mistake on their side. Turns ou...

Call Salik directly and ask to speak to Desmond Rodrigues. He's a supervisor/manager there. I was very blunt stating what the problem was and how I wanted it sorted and he sorted it all out very quickly.

Now there you go! Consumer power working for the masses via Dubai Forums. Having a name is useful as well. Is he just in charge of Salik, or RTA on the whole? :D :D :D Knight He's a manager there as far as I know. You have to be firm with these people and demand that it gets sorted. This guy was ve...

To be honest - I wouldn't worry about it. Everywhere is air conditioned and when the summer does arrive its too hot for anything outside anyway. If you wear shorts and tshirt and flip flops you will be too hot when you get outside. I would just buy a quality well made suit. You can get them made out...

If you wear a linen suit you will look like a miami vice Lebanese dude. Not a good look.

Linen suits are not for business. Go for a light wool mix.

If you go to the Bur Dubai area or Satwa you can get a well made tailored suit for around $200 or cheaper depending on the material.

I agree - stupidly overpriced and a real let down. Free advertising for the restaurants (to a point) and they have the nerve to charge that amount for a mouthful of food.

CRAP!

It wont be a problem because they only ask us for the Photocard part of the licence and as you know the endorsements/convictions are only on the paper part. So no worries Not the case with me. They wouldn't accept just my UK license. They made me go back home and come back the next day with the pap...

Contents insurance

Hi all For all those renting in apartments - could you tell if you have a contents or personal effects insurance policy in Dubai? These policies normally cover you for accidental damage, theft, water damage etc. Do you think it is needed here in Dubai. The theft thing I am OK about but what do expat...

It if worked before in the UK on your handset then just make sure that you have the following: - Correct POP/IMAP server address for Yahoo (Same as you used for the UK) - Correct SMTP server address for Yahoo (Same as you used for the UK...

I'm not too clued up on Yahoo Go - but at first glance it looks to be an application that is installed on your handset. If you want just email access then just use the email client on the handset. If your Yahoo Go does not support this then just register for a Gmail account and set this up on your h...
