Moving to Dubai

Hi all,

I've just been offered a job in Dubai and I've got a question. What's the quality of the public transport over there? Although I can drive, I'm not the greatest fan of it. Is it possible to get around using the public transport?

Thanks,
Shaun

Hi all, I'm looking on recommendations on good places to live for a 34 year old single professional to live. I will be getting a relocation agency to help me but in my experiance, there are a lot of benefits to checking things out yourself. My allowance from my company is 110k but I add to that a li...

Hi, Thanks. That helps a lot. I've been asking about currency fluctuation protection with my company, which basically means linking your salary to the US Dollar or Euro. They don't seem to be sure what I'm talking about. If they mentioned the AED is already linked to the USD, it would have answered ...

Ok. Onetickin, I'm not at looking at playing the market, just interested in making sure the currency I'm being paid in will be worth something back home or elsewhere. Arniegane, by what you've said and the (little) research I've done. The currency is fairly stable. I think my collegues and I can all...

Hi guys, I'm based in Australia right now but moving to Dubai soon. I'm thinking about buying a MacBook Pro but wondering if it's worth waiting until I get to Dubai, it might be cheaper there. The price of one here is 8.200 AED. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost me in Dubai? Thanks in...

I've had my things shipped around a few times now, Uk to Finland to Denmark to Sweden to Australia and now currently enroute to Dubai. One thing I've learnt is that make sure your present when they are packing and give them exact instructions what to pack. If you don't, they will pack up everything,...

Hi, One thing to make sure of. If your company is paying the shipping costs, make sure they have an arrangement with the shipping company whereby they will actually put the container on a ship before the invoice has been paid. My company didn't and now I've been here a month and my stuff is still in...

We've figured out that the Etisalat mobile network simply isn't reliable enough, so we're thinking about pagers or sat-phones. Anyone know if there are any companies providing a reli...

One theory one of my friends came up with was that pork tends to rot a lot more quickly than other meats. Given the tempertures in this region and the lack of refridgeration back then, it probably wasn't a good idea to eat the stuff. My friend used to be a proffesor in Oxford, so I tend to listen to...

Don't get too exited. If you read the full article in the paper edition of 7Days, 'Skype, the popular site that allows people to talk to friends and family across the world for next to nothing remains blocked.'

Sorry guys!
