Had a look at a 1 bed room apartment in CBD. Nice apartment but didnt want to live on a building site. Ended up taking a studio in Bur Dubai instead.

Microsoft Updates :x

Made the mistake of letting microsoft updates install on my laptop. Afterwards it wouldnt reboot. Had to do a clean install using my system recovery disk, but this means Ive lost a lot of data from that Laptop. Luckily most of it is backed up on DVD back in UK. Will never allow MS updates again!! :x

Just bought a HP Pavilion dv6312ea from Sharaf. decided against one of the little Bur Dubai shops for service backup. Have already had to take it back 1 day after buying it because the casing is coming apart. They say it has to go to the distributor for it to be checked before they can replace it! s...

you can even afford to eat out regular on that money if you eat in some of the small indian/pakistani restaurants. a good meal will cost you less than AED 20 there.

Golden Sands area of Bur Dubai would be an alternative for you. You will go in the opposite direction to all the traffic so commuting won't b a problem. You should get a studio i a building with all facilities for around AED60,000

I work in Deira and originally wanted to live there, but the majority of buildings there are quite old and dont have good facilities. Have a look at the Golden Sands area of Bur Dubai. You will reverse commute so traffic wont be a problem and you'll get better facilities.

If you will be living in a villa and have large satellite dish your best bet will be to find a way to get hold of a subscription to South African satellite DSTV. Otherwise I think the Premiere League is switching onto Showtime next season and I also think they will have the rugby worldcup. another a...

I remember studying Socialistology in my 1st year at Uni many years ago. They blamed everything on white middle-class males! As a white middle-class male I dropped the subject as soon as I could :)

I would recommend that you buy the Dubai Explorer book. I've found it pretty useful since I moved out here. It does include a guide on Beach Clubs. Make sure you get the latest edition though. You should be able to get it somewhere like Waterstones http://www.the-explorer.com/destinations/index.php?...

I work on Rigga Road further into Deira and live in the Golden Sands area of Bur Dubai. Traffic is not a problem as you will be going in the oposite direction to all the jams. Takes me 15 minutes. Guess you could even commute from the Trade Centre area of SZR within 30 minutes max.
