Thanks Maaad. I have been in Damascus and other places in Syria on holiday. So I definately know you can't compare it with Dubai... it's quite opposite.. But I'm not looking for luxury. I agree that there's extremists/wacko's everywhere. But I haven't heard of recent killings in the name of Christianity (correct me if I'm wrong). I wish people would just shut up about religion... I'm very happy to not be religious at all.

I did an Arabic course Beginners 1, 2 and 3 and Intermediate 1 and 2 at the Arabic Language centre in WTC. I have a collection of all the vocabulary that we covered during the courses. It has proper pronounciation written next to it. If anyone is interested let me know.

For me, the only place i've been where the driving was worse than Cairo, was Damascus!. In reality they drive pretty much the same way, but the 'cut me up and I shoot at your tyres' incident swings it to Syria. I don't think that's a normal experience, but having a local driver is the way to go. SD...

It's nearly impossible to earn 7-10 k monthly for a simple office job. Even a p/a to manager makes only around 10k. The simple office jobs are usually taken by people from Asian and pay around 4-5k. Some companies however want specifically a European receptionist and might pay more.

Just to note I believe Arabic is the most interesting and warm language that I have ever learned. I learned 3 other languages as Dutch isn't spoken much in the world so I had to. Also the most difficult though. Take care.
