to make things worse East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) turned around and betrayed the Pakis - thus angering them even more. That's a load of BS. It was Pakistan which betrayed the East Pakistan. The Pakistani Army commited Genocide in East Pakistan thanks to Yahya Khan. By the Way, I am a Pakistani!

Dr Strangeglove seems to be living in another world.

In UAE, if you're an expat you are lower than dirt in the eyes of some Arabs .

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

Why do so many people here believe that all the expats are either labourers or/and have just been living in UAE for no more than a decade. There are a lot of Expat families in UAE who have been living here even before United Arab Emirates was formed and they do deserve citizenship and other rights w...

Re: Will Regional Unrest Affect The UAE?

"There are plenty of countries they can migrate to that are willing to give anyone a passport." I agree but the issue is not only passport, it is the place you were born and raised in, a place you consider it to be your home but still treated like a foreigner. A place where you have adopte...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

'It's about people thinking that the "deserve" a passport by virtue of the fact that they have lived in a country for most of their life. If one resents the fact that they are not entitled to a passport, based on the decisions of those that rule, that's when they should leave. Why stay in...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

You don't want the passport, but you want your "rights". I never said I didn't wanted the passport. I said it's not just about a small book, it's about not being treated like a foreigner and the right to live here without renewing your visa. It takes more than being part of the labor forc...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

You will always be a foreigner in any country that is not your own, no matter how long you live there or whether you get a passport.

So according to your logic, everyone in the world should go back to Africa where human beings originated.

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

So the "rights" that you seek is not to be treated like a foreigner by virtue of not having to renew your visa. Do you think having a visa that doesn't have to be renewed, gives you the right to live in the UAE indefinitely would disqualify you from being a foreigner? If you aren't a fore...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

Khalid, you can call yourself whatever you want, it isn't going to change a thing. If you aren't a foreigner/expat, and you aren't a citizen, what are you?? I know it won't change anything, this is just how I feel. Just like you will always be an American in your heart no matter what, I also will a...

Re: Will Regional Unrest Affect The UAE?

Thank you for understanding but I can't go to Pakistan. I can't go there and live there because it's a very dangerous place to live. Don't you hear it in the news; the sectarian violence, Suicide bombings, F^cked up economy. I do love UAE but as much as like, it's very difficult for me accept that I...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

@Khalid : I hope you will remember one thing: if you dont have self-respect, dont expect others to respect you. If you declare yourself from Pakistan, then proceed to throw dirt on it, dont expect any one else here to come out and sypathise with you. I apologise, if I have offended other Pakistanis...

Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

You know bm, I used to think the same thing about the word 'Paki'. I always thought what the big deal about it, until I was called a Paki by a rude british man in Dubai and it felt really awful. It's not just the word, it the hatred behind it.

if I were you, I would stay clear of Britain. it really isn't all that. I completely understand bm, that UK is now overpopulated that's why I would rather prefer going to Canada. Re: Will regional unrest affect the UAE?

Yes, Khalid I suppose Britain is a nice place to visit. Start saving up as it is very expensive, I paid £1.42 per litre of petrol on Saturday and Chardonnay is now £7.30 a bottle! Where will it all end? Let me know where your relatives live and if you're passing through the Lake District, give me a...

Re: The War On Drugs, Yay Or Nay?

I believe that all drugs should be legalized. It is the better option for the society in the long run. Thanks to Portugal, we have the report confirming that it actually is the better option.

Re: Female Kuwaiti PM wants women as s.ex slaves

Nope sorry! There is no verse in Qur'an which says that it's okay to have s.ex slaves. Also the whole 72 virgin is nothing more than B.S created by Wahhabis. Also there is no such as Islamic clothing and wearing a veil is not required in Islam. The problem with most Muslims who believe all this, is ...

Re: Female Kuwaiti PM wants women as s.ex slaves

Well, actually no. The word 'hur’ain' in Qur'an actually means Angels, not virgins.

Look, even if there were no religions in the world, we would still be busy cutting each others throat. We humans just need excuses to kill each other.
