Questions about cost

If anybody can help answering these questions or even direct me to a website that would help I would be very grateful. I have been offered a job in Dubai which would pay approximately £2500 per month (16250 UAE dirhams) but I have little idea how this would equate with the cost of living there. I am...

What is bachelor accommodation?

Excuse my ignorance for asking but in looking for potential rental accommodation in Gulf News there is a section for bachelor accommodation. I have read in previous postings here that single young males might find it difficult to find a place because of their status. Is this correct? Also, a number ...

I should have mentioned that I will be getting annual flights and health insurance but won't be getting car or housing. Hopefully I'll be able to get somewhere central so that a car won't be required, at least not right away. I should still have some headroom each month after paying rent and utiliti...

As I look out of the window here there is about 6 inches of snow and you can barely see through the blizzard so money isn't the main motivator. Quality of life and a new experience is what I'm looking for. Whether or not I find what I'm looking for, only time will tell, but I've got to give it a go.

Thanks for all your advice so far, and sorry if I've started an argument among you guys. I appreciate I've given you only the briefest snapshot of my circumstances and can't expect a detailed reply. As long as nobody said I would be living on a park bench and eating dirt on that salary that's enough...

Which district to live in?

I will be coming to work in Dubai in a couple of months time and will need to find an apartment. I am not sure which districts I should be looking in and although the process will be much simpler once I am in Dubai it would be helpful if I can narrow down the search. I am a single male coming from t...

Looking for apartment in Sheikh Zayed Road

Having just visited Dubai for the first time I think the best place for me to live will be Sheikh Zayed Road. This is where my office is, opposite the Crowne Plaza, and as a 30 year old single guy it seems to have all the facilities I'll need nearby. Can anybody recommend a particular building. I'm ...

I made the move from Aberdeen fairly recently. Did a bit of research but didn't find a huge amount of info on this forum that was all that helpful as rents are going up all the time and I also was fairly vague in my questions because I didn't really know what I was looking for. In my limited experie...

The Scottish Open has just been on so I'm hoping it will be but please tell me it will. Also, what channel will it be on because I'm not sure my very limi...

Guys, I am a Notary Public. I am a UK qualified solicitor and notary public and registered with the UK Foreign Office. I would be able to sign documents for any country but I would need to make sure I knew what I was signing - nothing in a foreign language. I don't know what other Notaries would cha...

Chaps, I'm new to the whole Dubai thing so I don't know about any meets yet. I need to get on this site more often so I can get to hear about a few of these get-togethers and come along and meet a few of you guys. The only thing about notarising is that some documents need to be translated into Arab...
