Well, since I visit the dentist once a week (absolutely true!! ), I can recommend Nicolas and Asp on Jumeirah Beach Road. Their website, I think still has their old address-so it is after the Jumeirah Beach Club but before the Burj and the villa is yellow and has enormous signs.
Jumeirah Beach and Jebel Ali Beach-nice sand, nice water. In some months it gets too cold and then in the summer the water actually gets way too warm and sickly to swim in. Went to Jebel Ali yesterday and the water was great...will be good til the end of May and then definitely in July it'll be too ...
If you are Brits I assume you want a Brit. Curriculum School. The educational standard here is pretty high, I agree, but knowing something about education, discipline is not, say of the standard of a private school (I think you Brits call them public schools) IMHO, I have friends who are Brits and t...
We go down from the palm at JA beach. We like to go so we can take the dog. Over did it last w/e-kids were lathered up to the max with sunscreen and I just went for the lobster look!
Hey Arnie and Intimacy-I assure you my dog is NOT a horse! And there are nosigns down SZR about no animals, so there's no prob. there, but there maybe a prob. with the crocheted garments!
School fees.....hmmm.Some schools have debentures (nothing to do with teeth!! :D like a interest free loan you give to the school and get back when you leave BUT it is a big loan!!) and unless your company has debentures with that school it means you probably won't consider sending them there. Our k...
Briefly, some bloke had fallen in love with a camel, and how do I put it......... and was making love to it  ("kneel down baby you are too tall for me?????? :? mind boggles) Anyway, he got caught and the camel got put down (its meat was tainted)-so the camel got the raw end of the deal.
AFG makes a good point. Year 7 is high school and I think it is possibly year 6 at some schools. Speaking of extra-curricular activities I pay 80 -100 DH for specialist (violin etc)lessons for each half hour!! Yes, it occurs to me, I'd be better of tutoring than doing the current work I do!! :? Take...
Sorry to say but this is not the only place that does this. The last place we lived in was a first world country (yep, it is on the list!! and how??) BUT let their overseas workers live in containers on construction sites and labourers/workers were transported in the back of tray top trucks-my daugh...
The ole do unto others as you would do unto yourself....................put the shoe on the other foot-if it fits well all is right-if not................don't do it!!
Heaps of things to do!! The malls are a treat for the eyes esp. little kids- Mall of the Emirates has magic planet and ski Dubai, Ibn Battuta is a visual beauty, the race course is just amazing to see, dune bashing, go to the beach (Jumeirah Beach gives the Burj as a backdrop), try a shawarma, go to...
Two years-become a non-resident by informing your banks that you intend to become a non-resident and you pay a flat rate of 10 percent on income from your accounts ie 10% tax on your interest-this applies to your kids too even if the accounts are solely in their names. However you will pay a rate of...
School fees for us range from just over AED21 000 to AED 42 000 per annum-three kids at a total of AED 84 000, plus school uniform etc! So NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
For our first posting overseas my husband went into the ATO and asked what criteria determines non-resident status. The answer was "it is up to us"-they were like some secret service agents that wouldn't let out any info!! Apparently it is a case by case determination-choose an accountant who...
Moringa tree-look it up on the net. Indians and Philipinos use the beans and leaves and the beans are delish! But I read you can make tea from the flowers as well.
