I think it is a great place to live compared with other places we've been there are a great bunch of people around and less transient than most other expat working destinations where turn over is every 2 to 3 years. You find quite a few people have been here for their working lifetime thus far. All e...

You should be able to find a car within that price range and a good place to look is on line in the classifieds of Khaleej Times, Gulf News and in http://www.dubizzle.com. Also supermarket notice boards are good. The petrol is cheap and for that matter so are taxis but as a trailing spouse the novel...

Actually it isn't really a bad place to drive- I think you have to choose your house/apt close to everything to take into account that extra 30 minutes you may have to spend on the road because of some holiday, accident, road works or special event that holds up the traffic. There is a rail system g...

Wrong assumption sniper420- he was a person who could well afford it obviously-loud, obnoxious, one of his phrases was "these people have no business sense"-so my guess is racist too! He also abused the Security Guard approximately 2 inches from his face for questioning his wife who walked through t...

Try Jebel Ali beach-30 minutes drive-nice beach, little hut thingees and showers and you can watch the gaagle of kite surfers summersault in the air-a great few hours out! Cheers!! Woolongong? The name cracks me up! Should call it Miami Beach or something equally obscure! Turn just before the green ...

Sorry to butt in but bigotry is learned. A child is not born with prejudices against others. "Teaching" acceptance is not the answer whereas showing or leading by example is. (Yeah! Don't finish a sentence with is! Done that twice now!! :) ) Watch young children play with others -neither language no...

Gee, I should take more notice shouldn't...

Hi 1. One of my children basically spent her first 4 1/2 years from birth in air conditioning-she's normal!! Just don't over do it and have it freezing as new borns have a tendency to squirm and kick off covers- sometimes sleeping in an all-in-one with a light sheet solves this. Also here air-con is...

Every place is the same but "social pressure"....gosh, I thought we all left that behind in the school yard. It is a fact of life that someone will always have more than you but it would be really shallow to live beyond you means and stupid too, just to compete. Just be happy with your lot. I think ...

Third world by definition now includes such a vast array of countries that incude under developed (and not likely to develop) countries to developing countries it is misleading. My point is that in layman terms it gives the wrong impression to someone who intends on up-rooting and moving here. Avail...

The traffic is not that bad really! Trust me!! :) As for your bag I am pretty sure the airlines should replace it for you-I'd check with the airport on that one, however, since you've got it, it maybe too late. Have fun in Dubai-it is a great place to live! :D

Look up COLA indices and you'll find where your city lies in relation to Dubai. Do an archive search because I've answered heaps of questions about costs before ie milk, bread, meat etc. Petrol is around DH6.50 per gallon, a value meal at Maccas is DH14 and a kids meal is DH10. Going to the pub is e...
